I'd say I'm "Starting Over Again" But.....

Sunday, December 08, 2019

I have to change things. I can't afford to fail again. This time can not be just another restart. This is the heaviest I've ever been. I'm scared. I've not been good at following this through. I stick to a diet for a week maybe 2. I have no willpower. I know I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I know I eat when I'm stressed or depressed or even just bored. But I haven't quite figured out how to stop. How do you control it? How do you stop when your favorite comfort foods are in front of you? When you look at yourself and can't understand what's wrong what do you do? I have to fix me. I don't know how yet. I have to figure it out. Any advice?

I find that when we focus on a reason bigger for being healthy than what the pleasure of not being healthy occurs we see results. Ask yourself the real reason you are doing it. I found when I have been focused on my doing it because it was "right" or to please others I last maybe a day before I start doing what I want for me...which is usually eating.

Don't beat yourself up for having quit in the past. The important thing is that you keep trying again! You have a beautiful family, and maybe they can be part of what helps you make it stick this time. Do the SparkPeople 28 Day program (find it under the LEARN tab) and they will help guide you through the process of finding your WHY, setting goals, and so many other things. Join and PARTICIPATE in a Spark Team that appeals to your interests. We would love to have you join us on the 2020 Winter 5% Challenge! Making friends (here on SP, in real life, at work, etc) who share your desire to be healthier will be a major help! We all need someone to encourage us, pick us up when we fall, push us when we're being too easy on ourselves, and share the journey with. Being that person for someone else also makes your own journey easier to endure! And remember that it is a lifelong commitment. Even after reaching your goal weight/size/fill-in-the-blank, you can't revert to the unhealthy habits or you'll end up right back where you started. You want to GET healthy and STAY healthy! You can do this! *hugs*
