Getting Ready For Christmas!!

Tuesday, December 17, 2019

I finally finished the first skirt for DD11!! I did the hem backwards somehow, but it actually looks like it was done on purpose. You can kinda see in the picture the color of the thread standing out, it is golden-ish color like the belt and is a leaf pattern, made to stand out and be seen. I wish the hem was not backwards, but DD11 still loves it, so I'm happy. I'll have to post the pictures of the finished product on my sewing blog soon and get to work on bow ties for my dog and my DD13, why DD13 wants one, I don't know, but I want one for little dog for Christmas and to get started on sewing for dogs. That is one of my goals after all. I do need to find a material to make a coat for Pickles (little dog), he doesn't have much of a coat himself and will freeze when the weather turns colder.

I have found that I do need creative breaks, time away from one of the tasks I'm doing, but usually not for long. That is why the skirt took so long, the hem was taking forever and I didn't realize it was backwards till I was done with it. So I'm taking a break from skirts because I'm frustrated, and I need the creative break, instead I'm going to make some more toddler ties, the bow ties, and the wood burning ornaments (see yesterday's blog). Lots of cards to make too, for some reason I thought we would have time to make homemade cards and send the ornaments with the cards (they are very flat). Silly me. Some may be late, but that is okay, it is the thought that counts. And I think as long as you get them in the mail by a certain time this week they will make it. Gotta figure out when, and try our best to get things done. Plus finish decorating the tree and get the Living Room back to where we can live in it, LOL.

This is our new tree, much bigger (and sparklier) than our old tree. This is DD13 and DD11 decorating it. It is tradition that they decorate it while we play Christmas music and sit and watch and talk. They got bored this year and didn't finish because it is such a big tree. I'm going to break tradition and help them finish today so we can get things cleaned up and use the coffee table to make cards on.

The dogs normally take a nap with me in the morning if I need one, and they have gotten so used to it, they nap in the morning no matter what. I was playing Christmas music while wrapping presents, normally I wait till the last minute, but this year I am ahead of the curve on that, and they were getting bleary eyed and looking at me with mournful looks, so I softened the music and put on some classical music for them. They fell right asleep, even with me wrapping presents, lol.

So today I'm going to be cleaning up the Christmas mess and making Christmas crafts all day long. I'm actually thinking that if we make a big enough dent in the crafts that need to be done, we may make our first batch of Christmas cookies. I need more all purpose flour. What I really need is creamer, I'm out and I don't run well without coffee, LOL

Off to start my day and get to crafting and see how much I can get done. May need to take a nap with an ice pack, my migriane is coming back and I don't want it to get bad again.

Oh, and yesterday's Chorus Concert was great, except for the Jr High Women's Chorus, they were shrill. It was hard on my head. I was glad I had put in my ear plugs the song before, I could still hear, it was just muffled. But everything else was beautiful!

Hope you have a great day!!
