May I whine just a bit?

Sunday, January 05, 2020

Thnx for the words of encouragement and suggestions from my dear Sparkpeeps in dealing with my back spasm.
I have never had one! emoticon
I’m sure I whine like a big baby around the house.
It started a week or two ago with a terrible spot of itchiness around my right shoulder blade.
I was often scratching it with a ruler or a towel or whatever would reach that spot.
Then the itch went away and I have a stabbing pain in the same spot and at time a sciatica-like numbness down my right arm.
Is there a doctor in the house?

I increased my naproxen (which I had nearly weaned off as the CBD oil has helped my hip pain tremendously).
I go in my hot tub every night.
I have been doing plenty of back stretches.
Have used my little Tiger Tail self-massaging stick on it.
The pain wakes me up repeatedly in the night (took a long nap this afternoon, and I am not usually a napper).
Heat is the only thing that relieves the pain, especially lying down on heat.
My dear man has been kind and thoughtful and is taking care of himself...pain has taken my appetite away...I am down a few pounds.
Finally got through to my doc on Friday and got a prescription for a muscle relaxer and orders to see her next week if that doesn’t help.
I would say NOT, although I may be feeling a tiny bit better today.
Anyway, thnx for listening!

One of my sisters praises Arnica gel -- I keep forgetting to get some to try.

Did you ever have chicken pox? That itchiness sounds suspiciously like it could have been Shingles. Just a thought, as Slimmerjessie had.

HOPE that the med helps. It IS totally aggravating! You’re entitled to a little whine, and then some!

Whining is warranted! Having a flare up on body part that was perfectly fine before is frustrating, especially when you can see NO reason for it being aggravated. (Can you tell I've had this experience myself?!?). Hopefully between you and the doctor you'll get it figured out and get relief!

Hmmm, sounds like maybe a pinched nerve. I have a spot on the front of my thigh that gets itchy just before my back goes out. I have a proven herniated disc I need to keep safe.

Oh no! How awful. Those little patches you can apply really help, so do the wraps you warm up in the microwave. In PT for my jaw they’re having me switch out ice, then heat. It’s helping. Take care, I’m sorry you’re hurting.

I hope the meds help Liz, can be frightening when you can't get to the bottom of why something is going on.
The trouble the muscle spasms is that it does tend to go on and increase because the muscles can't relax.

I am so sorry you are in pain. And back pain is so scary.

I am feeling my arthritic joints. Like you I use CBD oil for the arthritis. Sorry it is not working for your back. I hope the medication helps you SOON

Do you have a rash anywhere? Sounds kinda like shingles.

Muscle relaxants are great for spasms. I'm sorry to hear that it's not effective for you.
Sometimes when I have pain I wonder about it...like if I have pain or tension in my shoulders I wonder, "Do I feel like everything is on my shoulders to bear?" I had pain in my foot for awhile and I wondered if I had taken a step in the wrong direction, or if I had "one foot in and one foot out" of a situation. Imagine my surprise when I found this: https://alchemyofhealing.com/causes
    -of-symptoms-according-to-louis
    e-hay/
"Back Issues: Represents the support of life. Back Problems: – Rounded shoulders: Carrying the burdens of life. Helpless and hopeless. – Lower Back Pain: Fear of money or lack of financial support. – Mid-Back Pain: Guilt. Stuck in all that stuff back there. “Get off my back!” – Upper Back Pain: Lack of emotional support. Feeling unloved. Holding back love."
    Food for thought?

Oh dear. I am so,sorry you’re dealing with this. You know my suggestion is to see a Chiropractor. I’m a huge fan and a believer.
I hope you can get some relief soon. And until you do, whine away! We are here for you. (And I don’t even think you’re whining , anyway).
