I'm back and we're moving!

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

Holiday Hurrah is over. I can now return to my life. Actually, I’m starting a new life. Starting last November and continuing into December we were in negotiations to SELLL OUR HOUSE! We all finally agreed on a price, we passed the home inspection, waiting on the termite inspection but a closing date is set—for now—and we’re proceeding as if it will happen.
Since our new house is about 2 months away from finished, we’ll be living in a motor home on site. And this is where life gets interesting. We’ll have to pack for what we’ll need while living there. We’ll have to pack and items will go to storage, and then we’ll have to move from storage to the house. I have the LISTS! And definitely checking it twice—should I take “this” or send to storage? So reading over lists a couple of times a day and adding/marking off daily.
Literally at the top of my NOW list is my exercise materials. I’m looking forward to NOT having as much cleaning to do as I do with the house. I’m looking forward to daily walks and some strength training—should be very little in my schedule now. And why not? I’ll probably not be asked to help the workers with their projects, so my time is (mostly) mine.
I’m planning what books to take and where to pack others and have easy access to them. I’ll need to remember my Lenten reading materials.
I will miss easy laundry access. Well, a bit of harder work in the short term and then laundry access at home.
Thanks to my SparkFriends who have been checking on me and encouraging me. I’ve missed SparkPeople and my friends, and I now know even more certainly that this is a great site, these are great people, and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be on this journey with. Nothing like time away to show what/who is important.
Let’s GO on the winter challenge!

Squee!! I love our motor home, and we've talked about living in it full time (as gypsies, or camp hosts, or for the same reason as you - building a home) and it will be an adventure, for sure! Weights are a great idea for that small space. Electronic books and libraries would be my best friend. I hope to follow more blogs about the details!

Congrats on selling the house and the excitement of moving into a new home. I can so identify with where you are at right now. My sister and her DH have been living with us since last May when their house sold and they proceeded with the plans for building their new home. They stored some of their things in our cellar and then rented a storage unit for the rest (they had been in their home for 40 years) They fully expected to be out of our house by September, but low and behold it now looks like March. It's OK with us, we get along fine, but I cannot imagine how frustrating it has been for them. Now that we're in winter they have had to go looking for winter clothes that they expected would be well put away in their new home by now. We love them and are waiting to celebrate with them for the new house warming party!

Best of luck to you and may your new home be wonderful (and completed on time)

Congrats on the upcoming move for ward to moving into your new home a couple of months down the road. We have friends who sold their home, now having a new -pace built, hoping to move in there this spring. They live in Minnesota so they are hoping the outside of their new place is done, and that the builders are in the inside getting that done now that winter is in full gear in the region. Our friends come down to their winter home here in Texas, with our urging as they pay rent for the lot all year whether their here or not.. So the home here also sold three weeks after they came down, but are staying at another home where another friend didn't come down this winter.
I hope all goes well with your sale of your home, moving into the motor home, and storage hope isn't to far from where you will be. Then move into your spanking new home, and ready to enjoy it.

Congratulations! How wonderful to have your home sold with all the details nearly finished. Sounds like quite the adventure to me! My DH and I talk about getting out of this house all the time - it's on a very busy road and the yard is so large that it's getting hard for us to take care of it. But all those details you described usually make us change our minds.

Good luck in the days ahead. You sound like you're very organized, I'm sure it will go very well.
