Rheumatologist

Friday, January 10, 2020

I finally made it to my Rheumatology appointment today. I have a very nice doctor called Ana Arvato. She is not from around here. Has an accent . But she was really nice .. likes to knit and was very sweet.

So did a bunch of tests but she is almost certain I have psoriatic arthritis. I had diagnosed myself a long time ago with this. I am a nurse you know. We diagnose and self treat ourselves too much. So she said you are probably intolerant of gluten. " try a gluten free diet." She x-rayed and drew blood and told me she would call me if anything came up really bad but did not think it was time for Methotrexate. But to eat really clean ... I know ..no processed foods alot of fresh vegetables and fruits. I love rice is that OK?
I love oatmeal ..is that OK?
I am going to try the gluten free thing. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm very sorry that you have psoriatic arthritis, but am glad you've found a doctor that can help. I've never eaten gluten free, but from what little I've read online, all rice is gluten free. All oatmeal's are Not gluten free, so you have to buy brands that are. I started seeing a rheumatologist in August and it has changed my life. I already knew I have fibromyalgia, but was also diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica and the treatment has reduced my pain dramatically.

Wishing you well!!! emoticon emoticon I

I have not gone gluten free. I have had a recent colonoscopy and checked for the condition. It appears that I do not have the allergy. Good luck. I do hope that you can find what works best for you.
