Settling in to Our New FL Home
Tuesday, January 21, 2020
it is hard to believe that two weeks ago we were leaving Mt Kisco, NY to drive to FL. And today we woke up in our new Florida home and it is really getting to feel like home. While I came here in October to get the internet hooked up among the things, that didn't work when we got here - very odd to be in a house with no internet or TV. Not to mention that we had a bed, a sofa & love seat and a small rattan set....and painter's things were all over the place.
Since the 10th when we arrived it has been a whirlwind of activity. Each morning we take Fletcher on a long walk and if we don't have deliveries or workers coming by, we'll head to the gym. Our POD arrived last Wednesday and we got some cardio and strength just unloading all the boxes and furniture. By Wednesday night the place felt much more like home with furniture we'd bought back in May was delivered, the guest room set up, the painters about done (they still haven't come back to put the closet doors back on!)
It's amazing all the little things you need in a completely new house....forgot salt and pepper the first time we went grocery shopping. Now I"m actually cooking here so fill in with what I need as I make dinner. We've been able to have breakfasts and lunches here so that helps with eating healthy.
Have spent time with my brother and s-i-l and that has been a real plus! They had us over for dinner last night and I made dessert. they fly home today for a few weeks and will miss them.
Finally heard from the plumber about finishing the guest bathroom. He and the painter are such a puzzle; they have not much to do and still have to get paid. You'd think they'd want to finish!
Each day is full of activity and being able to be outside so much is just wonderful. Our backyard is fantastic for Fletcher who loves to run around out there. We have to have the falling down screen porch actually taken down and that'll happen soon too.
The more we see, the more we want done, but then we realize it doesn't all have to happen this year.
Surprised that my weight has stayed the same. Yes, I'm walking a lot more, and eating isn't quite like what it usually is. Haven't gotten to the fitness center as much as I"d hoped, but plenty of exercise anyway. Once we stop having all these folks working on the house I want to get back to yoga and try Zumba. Fletcher is settling in too and getting used to a slightly different routine.
Life is good!
