Vacation in Methow Valley

Saturday, February 08, 2020

I have been away for a week, skiing and snowshoeing in Methow Valley,Washington. It was a very fun trip, and I got a lot of exercise and activity in beautiful surroundings with friends.

I traveled with my friend Linda. We stopped in Wenatchee, and took a walk along the river before checking into our hotel. And the next day, we stopped for a short walk along the Columbia River as we continued on our journey to our destination.

At the Lodge in Mazama, I skied each morning, and snowshoed with Linda in the afternoon.
Because of my arthritic knees, I skied on the easy loops in the meadow, instead of skiing on the more advanced trails with the group. I really love skiing, but the snowshoe trails were also really beautiful.

We had every type of weather. Beautiful sunshine, freezing fog, heavy snow, and rain. But we were able to enjoy the trails known matter what the weather conditions were.

The food at the lodge was very good, served family style, and I ate too much. It feels good to be back in my own home, eating my usual foods. I am grateful that I did not gain a lot of weight on this vacation; the exercise helped a lot.

On the long journey home yesterday, I enjoyed seeing the Sunset over the high desert.

The last 2 pictures look like paintings!! You always have the most adventurous trips I appreciate that you post them for al of us.
We had a light snow during the night very cold out, a damp wetness cold that chills one.
Yes there is nothing like going away or on a Holiday not gaining or very little. I am so happy I have no gains in sometime. I know this does not work for everyone, but I use my scale every morning as a tool toward my healthy eating. My friend could never do that it brings on anxiety for her. I think one needs to find what works for them !!
    Take care

Beautiful...………….how wonderful that you can still cross-country ski and snowshoe. I really miss both. How are your knee doing. They must be somewhat better to have handled all of that exercise. And Linda too, how great her back must be doing. When you talk to her again, please tell her that I am very happy to see her so active.

Have a good weekend. We have a snow storm coming in tomorrow.

Great pictures of your latest trip. You would like Quebec winter sport culture. They do it all in my home province because the early settlers had to snowshoe to get around . It is exhausting and great Exercise. And cross country burns the mist cals
