Making myself a Priority

Too often I place myself at the bottom of my list. I take care of my son, mostly as a single parent, I make sure I do my job to the best of my ability, I make sure my family (parents, sisters, nieces and nephews) are well, my son's dog is fed, let out and has plenty of water, the fish are fed, the clothes are washed, car has gas, lunch food and snack items are in the fridge and cupboard for my son.
I have made a commitment to myself that my health and well-being are going to be placed at the top of my list. There is the saying "You cannot pour from an empty cup." It is so very true. If I allow myself to become run down, do not pay attention to eat healthy foods, get in physical activity daily, don't get enough sleep, I will not be able to help any of those in my life that need my attention.
I am working towards getting in my physical activity early in the day to allow me to have an extra boost of energy to make my mornings more productive and to set myself up for success throughout the rest of the day. I get plenty of steps and walking in during the day. I have been starting my mornings with yoga. It is my daily strength training. It may not seem like much but I am improving my breathing (my diaphragm needs a little boost), plus my upper and lower body is getting much needed stretching and strengthening from the moves that require balance and support. I may not burn as many calories as someone hitting the gym but I am working within my financial means, I am using my body weight as my resistance, and I am building my core muscles to continue my progress towards my goals.
I am worth everything I am doing to improve my health.
