Feb 13 - Update of our move back to Canada
Thursday, February 13, 2020
We did arrive in Canada on January 24th as scheduled. However, this did not stop me from worrying about my animals being left behind in Dakar due to no fault of our's. At the very last minute our travel agency informed us that they were told by the airline (Royal Air Maroc) would not take our animals on the same flight with us. We scrambled to find a solution and our dear veterinarian took them in over the weekend and coordinated with an agency to put our fur babies on a cargo plane. They did arrive on January 30th at an airport which was two hours away. Upon hearing my voice and seeing me, Mimi (dog) started crying and did not stop for over one hour. It is only after that she did realise that she was finally reunited and fell in and out of sleep but laid her head on my lap.
It is amazing how she has adapted to the winter here. Basically, she started to walk the very next day in the snow. I had bought boots for her and wore them well but did not like the feel. She is now jumping in the snow and enjoying every minute of our walks outdoors.
Our cat is still hiding under a sofa in the bedroom we are sleeping in. Our daughter also has a small dog who barks at our timid Tutti so she hides away. She does come out to eat and to relieve herself but goes to hide when Lili (daughter's dog) goes downstairs to sleep.
As for my husband and me, we are trying to obtain the provincial health insurance but are still lacking some papers proving that we are actually living in the province. We are also endeavouring to prove that our drivers' licenses are valid from Senegal. There is no expiry date and that is the problem. Today, we shall go to the Senegalese Embassy and see what can be done there. We cross our fingers!
We are also looking for a new home. Hopefully, we can find one before our container arrives which should be around mid-April.
Apart from all this, we are happy we have made the move back closer to family. Family to us is of utmost importance.
Have a wonderful day everyone! Lise
