Thursday - Incredibly long but productive day

Thursday, February 20, 2020

First the news about my friend Lisa and her family - hubby is home but needs a walker and help with everyday activities - her daughter has been taken off the life support and is breathing on her own although still not conscious. Small positive changes but even small ones are huge fight now. Continuing prayers needed, but hope is growing!

Today I had an IEP for an upcoming student and so be she will start off for less than half a day, she will have homebound teaching and I will probably get to teach her at home as well as in school. I also completed 6 of my own IEPs so I sent them to the Special Education office to be reviewed before I can send them out to the parents. This has taken forever and it is a real heavy weight off my shoulders and if there are any issues that need to be fixed, I have an entire week to fix them.

The kids were horrid today. It was so VERY very much a DAY! My side was out today and will be out tomorrow since she probably has strep throat as she has blisters on her throat and mouth - doctor's office closed today so she's going in tomorrow to get checked out. At least we had a sub though. One of my students has learned to open the door and four of five times today we had to chase her down the hallway. She has had a sudden change in behavior - a week ago she could not even be gotten up for food, now she wants to run down the halls. She has spent the better part of the last three years sitting on the floor with her head on her knees. She refuses all attempts to get her to work and scratches, bites, pulls hair etc. if we care ask her to lift her finger and point to a picture or a number or a letter. Now all of a sudden she is an escape artist! What the * "**=$% is going on??

Anyhow, have a blessed and joyful day.

Good news about your friend and her family. Prayers will continue.

Getting paperwork completed is a huge relief...for another 364 days anyway. emoticon

Did she have a change in meds or puberty arrived or both? I always loved it when the parents/guardians would get a new script for the kid and totally forget to let us know. NOT! It seemed to always be THAT kid with THOSE parents. Maybe that explains the kid.

It's now Saturday and I'm trying to catch up after a crazy week. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
