Ah, moving

Saturday, February 22, 2020

FINALLY! As of yesterday, the move--for now--is OVER. All our stuff is in storage or at our temporary residence. We FINALLY now have internet service, and I'm grateful for that. We FINALLY sold our house and FINALLY continue work on our new one. FINALLY my husband's dream house can be finished.
Woo boy, though was the last couple of weeks tough--we're too old for this! We had to drive to Missouri to get our nephew's motorhome--a serviceable one but not one of those mansion-on-wheels we sometimes see on the highway. Then we had a couple of days of rain so the damp, mud, cold, windy days made the packing and loading vehicles hard. I'm now sitting and looking at 2 LOADED vehicles that need to be unloaded but I have no idea where to put the stuff. Nor where anything is in our pole barn! So, my "free" time till the next move to the new house will be spent looking for stuff and trying to group "like" things so they are easier to find.
Thanks to the SparkPeople who recommended forms of exercise for my motor home time. Walking will continue to be my main form of exercise--our mailbox is at the highway, but we're not. So walking out-going mail down and then going to get the mail after lunch will help. Same with the garbage.
Our dog seems less confused over all this now. Our sold house was the only home with us that he knew. On Thursday while we were still clearing out the "little" stuff--furniture and big stuff went on Tuesday--he wandered around looking for something familiar. Now that we've spent some nights in the motor home he seems to find it familiar.
We, too, are beginning to find this new place familiar. We're in the woods, so sounds are very different than our rural-urban setting before. Traffic noise is muted, since we're off the highway, and animal sounds seem to dominate.
I'm learning. Thanks for your recommendations. Thought of all of you often and hoped all were doing well.

Moving is difficult the older we get. Last time we moved was 5 1/2 years ago - and we both say it will be the last but you never know - I have a feeling that we might have to move one more time - when we get to the stage that we can't do the yard work or keep the house up inside - but hubby is saying he will not move to an assisted living building even if we moved to a floor that we wouldn't help but in the building - but honestly I can see that happening - but praying that is it way, way down the road.

Moving is hard but I am sure having an interim setup adds to the stress. It will be worth it. Take care!

All pretty exciting. So many new things. But I understand about the hard work. I can't even imagine having to pack up everything in this house - I've been here for 37 years and collected a LOT! Good luck with the transition.
