People and Criticism and My Daughter

Thursday, February 27, 2020

Recently I read Terri Blackstock's book Smoke Screen. About a woman who is going through a very emotional time. Her ex husband pushed on by his manipulative father is suing for custody of her 2 children. He wants to make himself look good so he can win the mayoral race. Yet he is so busy running around to functions that he hardly has enough time for them and his bimbo wife goes shopping and hires a babysitter for them. The pressure becomes too much and she starts drinking. A guy she once dated comes back and his dad who was releases from prison. The point is this guy is the one she turns to and he helps her defeat her problem in the end and keep the kids.

I went on Goodreads and here is some women complaining that the woman was a wimp and that she was weak for needing a man. Excuse me but were the women who were wives of our presidents weak? Were they not just as strong as they were? God created women to complete men. None of the women in the Bible were weak. It is like criticizing the author when you lamabast the characters. They do not understand how addiction works and how the cravings for food, alcohol, drugs or any other thing takes over a person's mind. How it is all they think about. It is the addictions that make people weak not leaning on a man.

I am dealing with my own little problems. Recently I bought some paczkis at the store. 4 for about 5 dollars and I do not want to throw then away so I cut them in half and only ate a quarter. But sweets are not my only problem; I like playing games on the computer or reading. I admit I have been spending too much time doing that. That is even worse than the sweets.

My daughter has been having severe diarrhea symptoms from her IBS this past week. She has been losing way too much food and it has caused her to gain weight now. We had to wait for a replacement scale from the company who made it so she could weigh again . We got it today; bad news. She gained a lot of weight and since she knew the insurance company would kick her out of the program she decided to call it off herself by sending the gastro person a message. If you gain more than 5 pound you are kicked out for a whole year. She is very depressed now and so am I . But I will not overeat on sweets I will pray instead.

I have lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks so far and hope to keep it up. Also need to be a good example to her. She needs me now to support her. Please pray for her. This is a very severe blow for her.

Sorry to hear all that you and Jenny are going through - it must be difficult. And as a mother I am sure you are concerned about Jenny. I have had a small set back also - lasted about 2 weeks which was very long for me but fortunately I was able to sit and look at what I was doing and then decided on how to change it up - it is hard making changes but when our life depends on it, well we just need to do it.

Please know that I pray for both of you daily = please let Jenny that I am praying for her and that I believe that she can do what is necessary - she has the Lord on her side - and any time either of you want to talk please let me know - I promise not to 'give adivce' but just be there for a listening ear.

I have no words of 'fix' or 'wisdom' really, except to keep trying, each day, each choice and keep sharing support.... for me, it's sparking. I haven't tried like overeater's anonymous or other support groups, but maybe it would help to have someone in the real world to share hugs with? I hope she finds her way - I can see how fighting for her kidlets would be terrifying, exhausting and utterly emotional... (and worth it.) Be encouraged - do things each day to help that - Zig Ziglar said - "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." hugs

I spent too much time on my short-lived Intuitive Eating journey that had put my Christian life on the back burner. I realize now what I did, and have corrected it. So you're not alone, we all have something that challenges us.

You and Jenny will be in my prayers. I imagine she's very upset. emoticon
