Happy first day of meteorological Spring! March 1 is the beginning of meteorological Spring.
With Lent and the coming of Spring I have gotten back on my diet with new resolve. I tend to use different plans to make my own plan. I take the best of South Beach Diet, WW, Whole 30, and other plans to make a plan I can live with that is up to date but takes into account healthy guidelines and some of the newer science. How do you decide what plan works for you?
I tend to eat low to moderate carb, but in the Winter I find it easy to eat lots of carbs, especially the sugar and processed foods. This year for Lent I have challenged myself with the Keto Friendly South Beach Diet to cut out gluten, processed foods and sugar. I track my foods on Sparkpeople and I am using WW Green Plan guidelines so I don't worry about counting my vegetables or fruit.
Its working and I am actually seeing some good things happening. As I mentioned yesterday, we were with family some of the weekend. On Friday, I couldn't control my food since another family member brought pizza for a late lunch. I enjoyed the pizza, but decided that I would stop eating for the rest of the day. We were traveling during some of the weekend, so I made the best choices I could. I came home weighing the same as last week. This is working! I am also finding that I am feeling good and have more energy, which is a plus.
Find what works for you and then make a commitment to do it. I am liking the idea of sticking to my plan for 28 or 30 or more days.If you can keep on a plan for that many days, you can make it a lifestyle. I have to give myself outs or exceptions. That is how I make my plan sustainable and a lifestyle. Then I can cope with days like the pizza lunch. I am opposed to all or nothing thinking when it comes to weight loss plans or diets. Do what works and make it your lifestyle!
Have a great day and check out the 2020 Spring 5% Challenge. It's a great motivator!
