Workout Excuses, Should I or Shouldn't I?

Today on SP home page there was an article called "The 10 Worst Excuses to Skip Your Workout." Unbelievable that it was there today of all days. I got up this morning, went to the hospital and had surgery to remove my diseased gall bladder. I was in recovery for 1 1/2 hours then DH drove me the 1 1/2 hour trip home. I rested on the way. We came home and ate a light dinner and I rested while watching the news. Then, I got up and took a 20 minute walk. So far I have managed to get over 4000 steps. While I won't make my goal of 8000 steps today (no excuse needed), I am pretty proud of myself for not climbing in bed and sleeping the rest of the day.
I attribute such an easy surgery to SP. Walking 3 - 4 miles every day and doing strength training certainly made the difference between an easy surgery vs a not so easy one. The surgeon said because of my condition, the only restriction I have is, if it doesn't feel comfortable, don't do it.
Spark challenges, such as the 5% Challenge and the Biggest Loser Challenge, really make a difference in wanting to workout or making excuses. While I am not losing a lot of weight right now, I am definitely healthier because of them. If you have not signed up for the challenges, check them out. You will be glad you did.
