March 6, 2020 Update since our arrival in Canada
Friday, March 06, 2020
Well, we did celebrate our oldest daughter's birthday on March 2. Incredible but true, she turned 51 years and it gave an opportunity for us to share pictures of her youth with her sons who are now 21 and 19 years old.
Here is our African dog Mimi who has adapted very well to her new environment:
You would actually believe that she was born here! She looks forward to her walks every single day. Today, it is snowing. She has gone out twice already!
So far, we have done our health protection which should kick in on April 24th (three months after our arrival), I have done my old age pension scheme which should come around the end of April. We have just received supporting documents for validating our drivers' licenses from Senegal. We shall have to go to the Embassy to get this validated. Once that is done, we will be allowed to drive without any fear of losing all our years of driving in Senegal. As for house hunting, this is more difficult as it is a sellers' market. After seeing a place, we need to put bids on the house and the highest bidder get it. We are not rushing in the least because we ARE comfortable at our daughter's place and she is definitely not kicking us out.
I shall give more updates later.
Hugs to you all. Lise
