Today marks two weeks since the start of Lent and my no desserts pledge. I'm calling it "no desserts" because "no sugar" is extremely difficult....almost impossible.....for me. So many foods have sugar in them: breads, bacon, some meats, seasonings, etc. No desserts means that I am not indulging in treats: candy, cookies, brownies, ice cream, cake, etc. Believe me...this IS a challenge! But I have made it and I wish that I could report that I don't crave them any longer but that is NOT the case. What's getting me through is Easter. I know that when Easter is here, I'll be able finally have some chocolate.

I'm aiming for non-GMO diet but with my lifestyle choices, it's difficult. I choose to eat out a few times a week and you can't be sure that the foods we purchase in the grocery store are truly GMO free. I do look for those labels and try my best to stick to whole foods when shopping, but nothing is guaranteed unless you grow your own plants, raise your own meat
and know what is in the seeds, soil, etc....very possible but so time-consuming.

Let's remember this and not be too hard on ourselves!
