My View on Covid-19

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

The City of Los Angeles is closed, literally. Every government building and school, all social venues, most businesses. No seating allowed in every eating establishment, only drive thru and pick up. All stores have limited hours, and there are no visitors allowed at the hospitals.

Our community has been affected from the beginning because of the numerous cargo ships from China coming into Port, but that was precautionary - no outbreaks.

I’m in the hospital waiting for results of a Covid-19 test. I collapsed Sunday after being sick for a week... those gorgeous 911 paramedics and firemen know us by now!

They tested me because they couldn’t identify the source of my symptoms, which are much worse than regular test results warrant. Days later, the thinking is still it’s going to be negative, but they can’t explain or control my painful out-of-control coughing and compromised lungs.

I have a front row seat being in quarantine, the response is amazingl. I can’t control my bodily functions, yet the nurses gently clean me up. Their attitudes are all about taking care and being safe, great cooperation. It’s happening in the communities too, sharing and helping.

Other than feeling horrible, I’m not worried or scared. However, I do believe the extreme measures being taken to prevent the spread of the virus may well save us from a far worse outcome at the end of this pandemic. Credit to medical researchers and health care workers!
