Quit smoking, tips to myself

My reasons to quit:

Better cleanings at the dentist
Not taking time out to go outside
Saving money
Clothes smelling better
Best thing I can do for my health
Not having health care providers nag me
Avoiding extra tests after my physicals

DELAY until the urge passes, 3-5 minutes
DISTRACT yourself
DRINK water
DEEP breaths - close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep breaths
DISCUSS your feelings with someone close to you

    I know how hard it is to give up smoking. I was successful two years ago, and haven't looked back. Hang in there, it DOES get easier. One thing that helped me was keeping my hands busy - mostly with cross stitch. That helped to take my mind off the cravings.

    PS. I used to live in Clarksville in NE Georgia. I love that part of the country.

    Good for you in making the decision to quit smoking! You can do it! I did it in 1978 and very glad I did. It was very hard but there are many rewards. Here are a few. Saved money, could be more physically active ( even won a few games against my friend in tennis) ( yes, she never smoked) had more free time to do other things. Like improving my surroundings, house, yard etc. proud of myself for the accomplishment. emoticon emoticon emoticon
