Some Fun For All Us Kids

Friday, April 03, 2020

We are all looking for ways to explain to others (and sometimes ourselves) just what "social distancing" implies. I prefer to explain it as physical distancing, we need to maintain social nearness through the magic of the internet and the phone.
Here in Canada there is still much discussion about the need for the public to wear masks. A photograph in today's NYTimes showed just how mask wearing can go wrong; 2 women in a subway car, one wearing a mask "correctly" with both her nose and mouth covered, the second with only her mouth covered. We need to get this right and we need to make sure our health care workers have adequate mask protection. Just saying.... emoticon emoticon

Mostly we are staying home. There are a lot of people out there that aren't taking this seriously. Tomorrow's trip for groceries will be the first wearing masks. Stay safe.

I am sewing cloth masks & have shipped them to my daughter who is a nurse in Vegas. I have made some for myself, my husband, & my neighbors, & I am now working with a doctor in Ft Myers to make medical grade N95 masks for the nurses & doctors in the event they experience a surge in C virus patients. I am praying for all the medical personnel & our country, & the world. We must remain calm & do what we can to fight this disease. Stay home. Stay safe. Cover your nose & mouth when you must go out & keep your hands away from your face. Use hand sanitizer often while out & wash hands immediate when one returns home. Wearing gloves is not advisable because it gives one a false sense of security & one will be touching all surfaces with those gloves & then touching everything. Unless one will change your gloves after touching each item, it’s useless.

Stay healthy & be well! We will get through this!

We in the States got the "suggestion" today to cover our mouths and noses. I cut out the pattern pieces for a mask today and hope to sew three of them tomorrow.

Thanks! I’ve been a fan of childrens books for years, but have lost touch with that. Never heard of this book before. The drawing style reminds me of the late Maurice Sendak. Looked for it on Amazon, and found an animated film version available for viewing with Amazon Prime membership. I put it on our watchlist.
