This year my cherry tree has been particularly beautiful. It is over 20 years old. For a few years it started to look like it was declining. Last year we had a tree doctor come and give it some treatment. It was so worth it.
Yesterday I really did not feel like getting outside for my Walking laps around the yard. I had to talk myself into doing it. After I finished my laps I sat in my chair in the backyard and enjoyed the quiet. As I sat there, I noticed some little birds flitting around. I tried to get a photo, but they are so small it is hard to see them.
Sitting there is a wonderful way to calm down and recharge.
WHen I began to write this blog I had a very different topic in mind. Instead I want to leave you with this.
I have not been listening to the news. It is one of the ways I keep myself calm. My husband told me about the Prime Minister of New Zealand speaking and played a portion of it for me.
New Zealand shut down early and completely, wanting, instead of stemming the spread of the virus, to eliminating it. As a result they have had one death and very few cases.
In her talk, she said, "The Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy are essential workers. But they may need to be home at this time to protect themselves and their families. SO if they do not visit your house, understand why. But instead why not draw a picture of the Easter Bunny and put it or a stuffed bunny in your window so we can all celebrate together?" (Not a direct quote but the essence of her words).
Here she is head of a country, making hard decisions to keep people safe. Yet she is caring enough to reach out to the children, who are confused and upset, to offer them some comfort.
I agree, the Easter bunny and tooth fairy are essential workers.
Find ways to brighten your day today.
Stay safe and healthy.
