What is my good news???!!!!!!

Monday, May 04, 2020

Ok, I was going to wait till it got here but I am so excited I just can’t wait! Some of you know I live on a 20 acre farm. Have since I was 12 and I’m 50 now! The thing is, the main core of the house was built in the late 1800’s with additions over the years, the last being a poorly built bedroom my parents added in 1985. The house is NOT well insulated, it has drafty windows, a falling down fire place. Stained ceilings, leaking pipes, the list goes on and on and on! It does have a new roof in 2012 and new furnace in 2017.

Ok, so we decided to try to start fixing. Just to put in replacement windows would be almost $12,000. (we have 19 windows) That does not address need for kitchen repair (note – I didn’t say update or upgrade or remodel – actual repair for the things literally falling apart.) Needing to move the bathroom to a stable part of house (was going to take over the den) as the room it is setting in is a porch that was enclosed in the late 1950’s! It is warping and sinking. That poorly built bedroom has tons of mold in it during this time of year (whole house does) making it necessary to live outside in a tent, yes, cold weather too!

Ok, so loan time, we can NOT afford a loan large enough to fix this house. We have great credit and the farm is worth plenty, they will give us enough to fix it, but hey, you have to be able to afford the payments. Also can not afford payment on a mobile home. - So, welcome to plan B. Well, actually it was plan A from a few years ago but we kept shuffling it to the back burner.

Drum roll please…………………………………………………………

we have ordered a building to convert to a TINY HOME!

I will update when it gets here and along the way as we get it ready to live in. The basics… it is 12 foot by 36 foot with a center porch. Here is a computer rendering of it.

It should be here any day now!!!!! I am so excited!

Still no word on my surgery although elective surgeries have been restarted in my state.
