I want to be a mom

Monday, June 01, 2020

I want to be a mom. I’ve wanted to be a mom for years now and it’s never been the right time. The timing now still isn’t perfect but there never really is a right time. For a while, I’ve wanted to adopt. Lyme disease is something I could pass on and it’s a fear of mine. So when an add popped up on Facebook for a local adoption agency, I figured I would call and see the costs. He told me it’s $30,000-$60,000 to adopt an infant. When I asked if there are grants or financial assistance, he laughed, and bluntly told me to start save my money and then call back. I hung up the phone in shock. I don’t understand why it’s so expensive. There are so many couples like me, who could never afford this, but could provide a loving home. My husband turns 32 in a month, and in October I turn 31. I always wanted to be a young mom, but that ship sailed years ago and my friends remind me that I only have a few more years before I hit 35 and pregnancy becomes complicated. This has just been weighing heavy on my heart and blogging always seems to make me feel better.

I'm sure you will find the right answer. Just keep in mind that there are many, many ways to be a mother. You will find a way that works for you, no matter what stage of your life you are in.
    Big hugs!

I'm sorry for your pain. It is possible to adopt from state services for much cheaper, but it's a long, arduous process, and you might not be able to find an infant, but maybe a phone call to social services in your area instead of a private adoption agency would be worth a try, and I hope they would treat you with more respect.

I'm also really sorry about the unkind comment posted right below mine. What a witch. I'm reporting it.

Why would you pass on Lyme disease? Have you tried to have your own child? Hugs!
