Tell Me About Your Back Surgery

Friday, June 12, 2020

Have you had back surgery? I posted this question in the community feed and did not like what I read.

What were your results? Recovery? Did it work?

My back is worse, a year later. Last year, I had L4 and L5 out of place and now L3 has been added. I cannot stand for long (stabbing pain in my lower back), cooking is a problem, but I soldier through. I cannot walk for more than 6 minutes before I have searing pain down the front of my leg.

I am getting an MRI on June 22 and have a neurosurgeon appointment on July 1.

I also have A-Fib and need to see the cardiologist for clearance before this can happen. He probably will want an ecogram.

Please just tell me your experiences, because it is scary.

I had spinal surgery in my neck, end of 2018. I had never been in a hospital besides being born. No real pain. The operation was considered a success. I WAS TERRIFIED. Techniques have been greatly improved

My DH had back surgery a year ago Feb. to correct issues in the same area as yours AND has Afib. It was successful as far as he no longer has any pain; recovering good mobility, stamina, and physical endurance was a process. He is 72; recovery took awhile AND he wanted to be more active than his body allowed, so he was frustrated, at times! He said he would 100% do it again!
