Prom Night Picnic
Sunday, June 14, 2020
We held a neighborhood prom this weekend for kids in our neighborhood. It was a lot of work, but boy did they have a good time. Our homeowner's association has a lake lot for dues-paying members with a dock, a boat ramp, green space, and a picnic shelter. We used that space to make sure we were following all the state guidelines and that everyone was safe.
Neighbors donated money, loaned out dresses and lights, cooked food and desserts, and volunteered to chaperone. It was absolutely amazing to see how we could come together to pull this off.
We did a photoshoot from 6:30 - 8 and then most of the girls went home and changed out of their gowns into sundresses or shorts. Then they got a nice dinner of steak, chicken, potatoes, and salad. We also had dessert and of course, dancing.
I am just so grateful to live in a neighborhood where we can provide something special for our kids. It was a lot of work, but it was rewarding and created special memories.
