Just a little info about my upcoming surgery

Thursday, June 18, 2020

Hi everyone! Thought you might be interested.

I have to go Monday the 22nd at 2:30pm for my pre-op testing and then of course my surgery will be on Wednesday the 24th at 8:30am (they said to be there at 8:00am).

Including a couple of screenshots of my liquid pre-op diet just so you can what I am eating right now. Hope the automatic resize doesn't make them too small to read.

I am so very excited! I am also nervous. After all, this is pretty heavy duty surgery and things can go wrong in ANY surgery. I am staying positive, just can't help but think about it a little.

Not to worried about the pre-op testing. They will draw blood, etc. and of course they will do a Covid-19 test. I have been social distancing and wearing my mask. And I feel fine after getting over most of the side effects from that med I was on. But, I know that testing positive for covid-19 is the one thing (barring a state shut down) that could keep my surgery from happening on the 24th.

For other preparations...I am on the blood thinner Warfarin sodium AND Plavix. (The warfarin because I have had two pulmonary embolisms due to Factor V Leiden and MTHFR genetic mutations. And the Plavix due to a heart stint) Obviously I can NOT be on these when my surgery occurs or I would bleed out. My last doses of each are today, as of tomorrow the 19th I have to be off of those. I have to "bridge the gap" with Lovenox shots so that I don't "throw a clot". Now I am used to shots because I am an insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic, but Man, those Lovenox shots HURT. and they leave horrible large lumps under the skin that take months to go away! I've done this before and I know it is necessary but I just am not looking forward to this part.

no new pics for cabin, James has been focusing on me!

That is it for now, going to go get some chicken broth.
