Do plants respond when you talk to them?

The weather was hot and humid and the gnats made it even more miserable to be out side. Yesterday was hot, but the humidity was lower and I was out in the garden all day weeding one of our plots. We try not to use chemicals so I was weeding by hand. It is a large plot and I spent about 7 hours out there.
I love looking at the garden the next day after I weed because the plants always seem to have a growth spurt. It is as if they are saying, Thank you." Plus when I am weeding the plants I always tell them how beautiful they are and that they are strong and will produce a lot of fruit. Maybe they just like to hear a friendly voice --
I don't know, is it my imagination or not?
