Lunch with a friend
Monday, July 06, 2020
Monday has become a bit of regular date with my best friend - first we began meeting up on adjacent benches in a park, bringing a flask of coffee with us (one each - not sharing!). Then, when the local NT garden started allowing visitors again, we've been meeting to walk around the garden together - again with our own flasks of coffee to enjoy when we sit and chat.
I usually walk the 3km or so to get there, but today I decided to use my bicycle - taking a different route away from the main roads. It was lovely! I had the lanes to myself and really relaxed for a while. The sun shone too which was helpful.
To our delight, we found that the cafe was open again! We had been there on the last day before lock-down, sitting drinking coffee tentatively wondering whether we should be there. Today we were there on the first day of re-opening.
Take a menu order sheet
Sit at a table
Write out order, adding name and contact details
Take order to window and pay by card
Collect order on a tray from the collection point
But it was SO nice to sit at a picnic table and eat a sandwich and salad that someone else had prepared, with the chatter of other people around, the buzz of the bees, the sunshine - oh, my!
Every week we seem to notice something different; this week I really enjoyed seeing all the apples starting to ripen in the orchard.
