100 Days | Phase 2 - Day 65 – Torrential Rain Day
Monday, July 06, 2020
We’ve been having really hot weather the last so many days so I guess we were due for some storms. The temperatures were predicted to go up to 93 today but no one said anything about rain. I had more errands to take care of today including some for my sister.
As I headed out this afternoon, all of a sudden the wind whipped up, dark clouds gathered and it poured buckets! Then you could hear the thunder and there was some lightning but it wasn’t as bad by me as by other towns. We even got automated phone calls from our local Emergency center warning about possible flooding. I don’t worry too much about flooding for myself because I live high up on a mountain but I would definitely have to be careful passing through some of the lower lying towns around me.
Anyway, I managed to get my errands safely done and back home in time. The rain stopped about 30 minutes into my errands and we had a weird mix of grey clouds, white clouds and patches of blue sky. I got an hour of walking around. Here are some pictures from around the roads on the way home. I'm sorry that some are a bit fuzzy... my friend was driving and I was trying to capture some shots.
Fun fact: I love to take pictures so I'm always taking them everywhere I go, usually every day at some point.
This house we passed is what remains of a long abandoned farm.
After the storms, the temperature dropped from 93 to 74 and it felt better but it was still so humid and muggy. I almost bailed on my workout tonight. Heat and humidity really sap my energy. BUT I pressed through and did an hour of my calisthenics and weight training. I am determined to stick to my workouts. I write them in my planner calendar and really press to make them.
Now I am relaxing a bit before sleep. Wishing you all a great evening!
