FitBit Folly and Blood Sugar Rising

I have trusted my FitBit to count my steps and be a measure of my physical activity, but I've found a few drawbacks. Sometimes it down't sync properly. Right before my vacation it did not charge properly, giving me 3 days with no data, since I left the charge cord home. It doesn't give me an accurate read-out of the time I spent walking.
The biggest problem of all has to do with the fact of what I had hoped it would do, but I was greatly mistaken. I thought that if I got in more steps (12K or more) my blood sugar levels would become lower and stay lower. These hot weeks have shown me that I am wrong with this belief. While getting over 11K steps is good for my health, it doesn't necessarily mean that my blood sugar levels will be lower. As a person controlling Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) this is very important to me. Fewer steps meant that there was a slight rise in my blood sugar levels. I think that swimming and drinking lots of water as well as eating a healthy diet kept my numbers from rising too much. T2D is a tricky disease, but it is controllable to a big extent.
