Hot Hot Hot

Yes, it's too darn hot . . . sing it Ella!! Love those Cole Porter lyrics!!
And you may remind me of my complaint in February!!
Dear Henry prefers to sit on the cold cement floor in our (unfinished) basement!! Yesterday I went down to check on him and he wanted to entice me into a little "pounce and play" with a small pink plastic basket he'd found . . .
But he tilted his head to one side and listened intently as I explained that he'd have to come upstairs if he wasn't a good boy. And he let me take the basket away from him . . .
He really doesn't even want to go for a walk. Heads to our shady back yard for calls of nature, a little snuff around . . . and then he's ready to come back in again.
I have been watering flowers with the hose . . . and I filled a bird bath with nice cool water in the front yard. (Henry would just treat it like a water dish and tip it over in the back yard . . .) They'll find it soon in this weather.
My huge sprawling rugosa has only a few blossoms remaining but it's been a fragrant delight for weeks.
The Shasta daisies and brown-eyed Susans are having their turn: with a few bright purple phlox flowers just beginning. My bright pink bee balm (bergamot) is quite lovely . . . love that smell, like Earl Grey tea!! A few nasturtium and zinnia flowers so far . . . and the geraniums look terrific.
I may just head to the beach with a book!!
