Breaking out a book that has great information that I have yet to ever quite finish.
Change Your Habits, Change Your Life by Danna Demetre. It's a hard book to find as it was published in 2009 (though there are used copies out there)

I figure blogging about it will keep me accountable to reading it regularly.

This book is from a Christian worldview which is one of my favorite things about it. Danna was a nurse for a very long time but struggled with an eating disorder when she was younger. She talks about the ruts in our actual brain that our thinking causes. Thoughts take the easiest route through our brain (Neurons) and when you change your thinking if a doctor were to take a picture of your brain you can actually see the changes. So when we're working to improve our health then we MUST also change brains as well by changing our though habits. "... it is the consistent, persistent repetition that will eventually make a dynamic change in our mind. That may be frustrating for those of us who wan to change now."
And how!
"Everything matters, including books, music, television, friends, and even persistent thoughts."
How often do we mindlessly watch tv or sing along to music? I have often gone back and really thought of the words or meaning of some of my favorite entertainment and have been horrified that I classified it as a favorite.

So in the process to change your mind you must: Set your mind, Identify the lies you believe, replace those lies with truth and practice healthy Self-talk. Easy Peasy, right? Not so quick there. It's definitely work.
