It's September Ya'll!

Thursday, September 03, 2020

It is NOT fall yet though. I still have a few more weeks of beach and lake days. LoL

emoticon This week is going well. I am eating relatively well and even having enough room for a glass of wine here and there.

emoticon Fitness is pretty good. My long run last week was bumped to Sunday due to weather. I ran my neighborhood (so concrete and pavement vs the nice cushy boardwalk). I was SO SLOW. I felt like my legs were bricks. I did 1 minute intervals (1 minute walk, 1 minute run) and crawled along. I wanted to do 8 miles but stopped at 6 because I could feel my hips rolling which meant my gate was going out (tired legs?) and I didn't want to aggravate an already annoyed Achilles heel.

Then Monday, I hit the trails and it was all over the place. The first mile, I felt tired (from the 6 miler the day before). Mile 2, I felt defeated, having a pity party over my stiff legs that always seem to get injured. Then, my watch told me mile 2 was faster than mile 1 and I suddenly had the gumption to run a negative split, making mile 3 faster even! I think:
1) it takes me at least 2 miles to warm up (knew this already but I forget all the time)
2) I just needed a little motivation/kick in the pants.

Tuesday was weight lifting and Thursday was another, more casual, 3 mile trail run. Today is also weight lifting.

Tomorrow, I am going to run 2-3 miles with a friend, probably very easy because it's supposed to be very warm and I'm shooting again for that 8 miles on Saturday morning. I have a virtual half marathon on September 20th! So not prepared, silly Achilles.

That's it for today! Oh, I noticed my renewal fee is up for my blog, TheChickenScoop.net - I haven't written there in forever. It started to become too much during grad school and then I fell out of the habit. If I am going to renew it, I might as well use it! The thought of canceling it makes me really sad though, I love having the old posts. Maybe there is a way to backup and download the site to my computer so I can at least still save the memories.

Anyway, time to go! Off to workout with a friend!

emoticon What's your favorite kind of workout? emoticon
I don't have a favorite but I really like step aerobics. I love the technical footwork!

well, great job on the running. I tried to run again today and the body wasn't having it.. think it was fuel/hydration related, so ended it at 1.5 mile and came home to do the rowing machine 10 more minutes.

I used to love workout videos and then I fell in love with kick boxing at an old gym, more recently, I really like the ARC and stairmaster at the PF gym, but since that is on hiatus, I'm trying to find my groove at home. I bought a rower in March, which was fun, but then nice weather makes me feel guilty for working out inside!
Now I'm back to 'trying' to become a regular jogger. Mostly only 2 mile routes, but I have a virtual 5K (I can complete anytime now to end of November).. and I want to do it well..

I even restarted using the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.. but couldn't keep committed to it daily.. I should give it another go, Strength training is so important, yet I push it off all the time :(

Hope you can figure out how to back up your old blogs.
