Heel is feeling better! Fingers crossed

Hello there! A little update.

T minus 10 days until I run a virtual half marathon! I was signed up for the Philadelphia Rock N Roll Half and it was canceled of course. They're requiring we run it on the original scheduled weekend so it is what it is!

I think I mentioned, I have been battling some Achilles soreness. This weekend, it hurt so I tried babying it with walking instead of running but I think that actually hurt more!

Yesterday, I tried a trail run and felt fantastic! My heel barely bothered me and didn't hurt all night. I can't tell if it is the soft trails, the less walking, the change in foot strike (you run differently on trails vs road), or if it the sneakers that I run in on the roads. So many possible issues. I ordered 2 new pairs of sneakers that could help so we'll see how it goes.

I haven't been very good at keeping track of my nutrition lately. I usually track breakfast and then forget all about it. I know that it is necessary though. I need to just build the habit!

As for personal stuff, things are going well. I am working mostly from home (I go to the office only if I have to). This weekend, I am going on an adventure! Haha, we're headed to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire with a friend. They have lots of pandemic prevention measures in place and we aren't going to stop at any rest stops on the way so we're going to see how it goes. Masks are required, even though it is all outside, and I'll pack some hand sanitizer too. Just going to be safe and try this little venture out of the house!

That's it for today! Oh and I have to try to run long tomorrow. 8-10 miles. Wish me luck!

    I did a road trip this summer and we stopped at roadside rest stops, easy in and out access to restrooms. We just wore masks in the restrooms and washed our hands. they were less crowded than trying to find public restroom at gas station or fast food place.
    A good friend of mine had Achilles issue, and it was due to form as well as a bone spur I think. but letting it heal/recover and then adjusting foot strike/form helped her keep it from flaring up. Maybe new shoes will help as well!
    Hope you have a great long run! I've been walk/jogging on treadmill due to air quality from wildfires. I can't seem to get much mileage in that way, but I hope it helps my conditioning when I do get back outside.

    Ooh, RenFaire sounds fun! Hope your achilles keeps improving! Mine tend to bother me when I wear flats too much - I have to remember to put aside the flip-flops at least one day a week, and I no longer wear flip-flops when I walk the dog, I put on real shoes.
