View from my Window

Sunday, September 13, 2020

At the start of the pandemic, I posted this view from my window.

I thought sharing the same view might give you a visual of the smoke impact. Visibility has been reduced to a quarter-mile. Air quality today improved in the afternoon to “very unhealthy”. Previously it was “hazardous”.

Air quality is supposed to gradually improve tomorrow. And we have a slight chance of rain later in the week. I am praying that the weather will help the firefighters get control of these horrible wildfires.

I am very grateful that my refrigerator and freezer were stocked with healthy food. Everyone is advised to stay home out of the smoke. And many businesses have closed to protect the health of their employees.

Prayers for rain. My brother & Sis in law just came back from a mini vacation near Seattle & told me about the smokey conditions. He lives in Fort Collins, Co. & they have had bad smoke conditions there too. Take care of you.

Fires scare me more than anything, because of course the obvious. We are right next to a state forest and it would be terrifying to have that catch fire. We have managed burns around us all the time and we smell smoke at home off and on. Hate that smell and it is hard to breathe. Glad all is ok so far you. But sad for those who have suffered losses. Not to forget all the loss of forests and probably wild animals. Be safe. emoticon

Wow - that's awful, Alison. Have you filled your gas tank in case you have to evacuate? Horrible stories about the fires in California, Oregon and Washington states on the Canadian news. Our daughter, who lives outside Calgary, says they are impacted by the smoke there too.

    Please be careful.
