Well it has been a very long week. And I think I am being tested in so many ways. Margaret came home the same day, drugged to the max. She spent Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday in her room. Only got up to go to the bathroom, and ate very little. Our pharmacy didn't have her pain pills until Friday, but fortunately, she still had some from the surgeon from when they rebroke and reset the ankle. Then my son thought the doctor had said she was to only use crutches (which she can't use at all) or a walker. Well after a short dispute, I called the doctor and she said the kneeling scooter was fine for her to use. She does use it to get around but gets tired very easily. She has a half cast on now until the 25th when she sees the surgeon again. THey will remove the stitches or staples. I believe at that time they will put a hard cast on for 4-6 weeks. She is non weight bearing on the left foot. I have had a hard time keeping up with everything and work. Doing my best, but I am really pushing it with the battered knees. The dogs are driving me batty, they won't do anything unless Margaret is around. They used to go out for her first thing in the morning, and then eat their breakfast and their dentastik. Now no one goes out or eats anything until Margaret gets up. This is a problem as I have already started working by the time she gets up, then the dogs are happy to see Mama! One of the ladies at church said she was going to see if she could get a group of ladies to come and clean the house.. I will love that so much. Yesterday was her birthday, and my mind is so scrambled trying to make sure everything gets handled on schedule, and so Friday night, I couldn't remember if I had ordered her flowers and couldn't find any receipt for any purchase so I ordered another set to be sure. Saturday morning I get a call from a delivery company saying they have two floral arrangements for Margaret. Guess who they were both from? Yes, I ordered two, And a friend from church brought over a dozen yellow roses for her, and our friends we dine with all brought an arrangement. Almost looks like a funeral home with all these flowers. But she is happy. Our friend brought a Lasagna dinner over with Pasta House Salad, toasted ravioli for an appetizer, and a beautiful chocolate cake for dessert! I was over calories for the day. Margaret was surprised that I pulled this off without her knowing. And still more lasagna left for a future meal. Today was somewhat quiet with just work and keeping up with helping her when needed. She is trying to go light on me as she know how much in pain I am in. Her friend from the clown club is still bringing two dinners a week. I tried to dissuade her but she insists. And her meals include salad, entree, and dessert. Tomorrow it pot roast! In the past she has brought quiche lorraine, meatloaf, tuna casserole. I don't understand how her husband is a bean pole with the way this lady can cook. I don't like tuna casserole, but this was delicious. This weekend will be better, as I won't have anything planned. Grocery shopping is working out ordering online and then picking up. Ordered a few things online from Walgreens. Well, I guess that sums up my last week. I will be ever so happy to get my first knee replaced. Til then I will keep trudging on an praying for the extra strength to get through these challenging days. Oh as if that wasn't enough going on, I got my son Chris to do laundry as going up and down to the basement isn't an option for me. Well he did one week's laundry and we had to replace the washer. He goes down this week to the laundry and the dryer went out. They were both about 18 years old but to go out the same time? So Wednesday we are getting the new dryer delivered so we can do the laundry. Chris didn't like hanging up the clothes on the clothesline. So he is putting it off. Fortunately, Marg and I have plenty to wear but he need his uniforms cleaned. So rather than washing and hanging them he went out and bought more uniforms! too funny.
