Saturday: Rock N Roll Philly Virtual Half Marathon
Reminder: my Achilles/heel has been hurting for weeks but feels on the mend.

Soooo I ran 8 miles on Friday! I ran 6.5 to make a pretty picture on my map, stopped for a water break at my house, and ran another 1.5 to finish it off. The last 1.5 felt terrible but my pace was exactly the same as the average for the first 6.5 so that means I was pretty consistent! I only ask for that same success this Saturday.

My heel has been feeling better. I have been making wearing sneakers a priority at all times, even at home (when I usually wear sandals or go barefoot). I bought a few new pairs of sneakers to try running too. I am suspicious that my long run shoes are going out, despite only having about 150 miles on them. My old favorite pair got 450 before I forced myself to retire them. Haha.

In other news, I went to the Renaissance Faire this past weekend! We had to wear masks and they cut down on staffing and shows so it wasn't as exciting as usual but still fun. We go again in October and I have a new costume idea for that one :) It requires that my blue corset fit which currently ties up but suffocates me! But it wouldn't tie last year. Woohoo! I bought new lacing so I could let it out a bit because I don't think losing 10 lbs before then is realistic. Haha (And despite all my fitness efforts, I have not lost any weight though I've lost inches - weight would be nice though to make my running efforts easier).

Oh, I also signed up for a year of Les Mills On Demand! I did Body Pump for years at the gym and I have the DVDs that Beachbody released a few years ago. I also like Body Combat (kickboxing class essentially). So far, I love it! I do strength workouts twice a week so I'll pick 2 BP workouts for the next few weeks and switch it up when I get better at them. I tried the step workouts last night and they were SO HARD and have strength in them (I prefer step aerobics that is more like dancing/complicated footwork). I am so happy I signed up for it! There's a 14 day trial if you are looking into it.

That's all for today! Happy Hump Day!

I like to run because it is hard and challenges me but strength training is more my favorite.

Good Luck! I like a variety, but I have been sticking close to home. I have been trying out some youtube workouts, walking the dog as weather permits and riding a stationary bike.

Glad you had fun at the fair, nice that you were at least able to go.. we haven't done anything like that at all. Hope your heel continues to feel better and you have a great Race day.
AND thanks for the heads up on the Les Mills trial, I will consider it. I've been enjoying the IFit membership that came with my rower. I've been stuck indoors due to air quality, so I've been using the iFit videos for running on the treadmill. I'm hoping the variety of intervals etc with a trainer will mean I can do my 5K outdoor easy peasey. We will see. My aim is to do my 5K 'race' by Mid-October, although I have until the end of December.. maybe if I keep pushing it out, it will keep me training ;) OR, I could sign up for the Thanksgiving virtual race. I'm not spending money at the gym right now with the membership on hold, so could spend that $ on virtual race? I'll think about it.
I also dusted off an ol' Beach body dvd..Turbo Jam Cardio Party 2.. and did about half of it yesterday. It is a great way to challenge myself to do something different.
