Rise Conference: Health + Happy

Sunday, September 20, 2020

emoticon Y'all!! I attended Rise Conference (virtual) in my little office yesterday!!! DH is the best!! I loved it!! There were some that I loved more than others, but all were amazing! Some got me more pumped and motivated than others, but it all was awesome!! I had an amazing day! I just loved it! So many different takes/approaches to health + happy!! I have it now available for viewing at my own pace, so I can pause and rewind and all that jazz, so I'm going to go back and reprint the workbook and retake notes so I can compare them and see what I learned new - that is Rachel's advice. I want to see what all I can glean from this conference. I want to absorb as much information as I can. It was inspiring, y'all!

I loved how many different takes, approaches to get to health + happy. I loved how they made it a point to not try to sell anything (other than the Rise Conference Merchandise). They took a holistic approach, no instant fixes, no pills, or magic wands. Just their story of how they did it, and how they thought that could help you. I gotta be honest, I cried more than once. Rachel even talked about dealing with anxiety. Wow. I know for someone like me who has generalized anxiety and doesn't have to have a trigger, it just is, it didn't mean as much, but I do also have triggers, and so I could relate. She came with such open honesty, such raw emotion, it was so real, it just took your breath away.

So all that to say, I am still pumped, inspired, excited to watch all the talks again and again this week!! To take more notes and learn all that I can so I can study and write my own plan out using the knowledge that I have gained and take what works for me and discard what doesn't. But keep it all so that if it turns out something doesn't work I can go back to my notes and say, okay, that didn't work, lets try this...

emoticon And!!! I RAN this Friday!! Me! I just decided on the fly, I want to run! I want to train to run, and so I did. 10 minutes, included in my walk, of 1 minute of power walking, 30 seconds of run/jogging. It was exhilarating!! I can't for two weeks after Tuesday, because I'm having my eye surgery (YAY!) and so no vigorous exercise for a while, but after that? I'm going to pump it up, get back to where I was, and then start running training again. I am going to continue to walk every day while I am recovering from my eye surgery, for at least 30 minutes. And, I found some great standing core work that I am going to start doing, plus doing my PT every day, not the weights but the stretching and what I can do with minimal weights. And of course my tens unit. Love that thing!

I'm so excited for the weeks to come, so inspired by what I watched yesterday and my running training Friday... I can't wait to see what I come up with! Today I'm going to rearrange my office. I'm going to clear my desk and set it up for working on my 'streaks', so that I can have my daily goals out on the desk and see them to write them out every day. I am also going to clear a space for working out. I use my computer for workouts, so I'll need to have a clear space to move so I can't have my ironing board constantly out in the way. I'd use that as an excuse, and I want no excuses. I want results.

One inspiration has been seeing the drastic changes in DH!! He has been helping with band, so lots of walking, standing, holding up his 20 pound euphonium for long periods of time while playing, marching to help teach, etc. And guys, his belly has shrunk drastically, noticeably! I'm inspired, in awe, and loving it! AND!!! He wants to get bikes and start biking to the nearby park, bike around it a few times, and then bike home!! I'm so excited! Bicycles, in case you were wondering what kind of bike I was talking about, LOL. We used to go to the huge park, pack up our bikes on my car and take them there, and bike around for fun and exercise. We had expensive bikes then, wanting to get good, but not so expensive bikes this time around. I was devastated when we moved to our new neighborhood in MS and my bike was stolen on our first day. I'm short, so a kid probably stole it. But, we have a garage now, so no one can steal it this time!!

My sewing has stalled, but I plan to take a break today from watching the conference to make something. I don't care what, anything! I have my next project planned out, a foot cosy, if I read the directions and they aren't too convoluted or confusing. You measure it to your own feet, and comfort, so there is no pattern, only directions. I have a cheap "microplush" (I don't even know what that means) blanket I got for $2.50 at a thrift store I'm going to cut up to use for the plush inner lining. It is black, so I'll have to find some good fabric to go with it. I have an off white with silver swirls pattern that would look lovely with it, I think, and be great for winter! Today I think I'll finish up a mask I was making for my BFF's Mom, and then make a large hand towel for the kitchen. Maybe make some dish towels. I want lots so I don't' have to use so many paper towels.

Well, I'm almost done with my coffee, so time to get changed and go work out!! I'm going to wake up, splash some water on my face, take the dog out (it is in the 50's this morning!) and then work out! I'm going to time my strength training this time for a more accurate time on SP.

Hope you are having a great weekend!
Stay strong, stay healthy, and you be you my friend!

So glad you got so much out of the conference!

I love your inspiration to start running. That's how I was with my fitness. One day I was reading, and then I said "let's go for a walk!" After 30 YEARS of being totally sedentary. And I've worked out every day since. Sometimes it's just meant to be! Happy running (and biking!) when the time comes after your surgery! Way to go clearing the workout space in your office too!
