So what do you want for Christmas? I want better health!
I’ve decided that the best gift I can give to myself this Christmas is the gift of health. Every week starting today, I’ll add a healthy habit. There are 14 weeks until Christmas, and every week, I’m going to focus on just one new healthy habit. The greatest gift you can give yourself is the gift of health. Adding a healthy habit each week is a great way to achieve it.
This week I have accepted a challenge on my Slice Of Life Wellness Program at work! Every time I watch tv, I’ll stand up and spend 5 minutes lifting weights. Maybe that doesn’t sound like a big deal to you, but I’m going to keep it up until Christmas. Those 5 minutes each day add up. Also, if I lift for 5 minutes, I’ll continue on for a few extra minutes. It’s all about getting started!
I’m also looking into their ConditionCare to learn more about staying healthy with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). So far I have 3 small changes that I’ve made for my health:
Walk 11K steps a day or more. I have kept that commitment 6 out of every 7 days.
Drink 8 glasses of water every day. I have kept that commitment every day.
Take 2 minutes each day for deep breathing. I have kept that commitment every day.
This week, I’ve added weights to my routine. I’m able to keep up with these small changes, and I already feel like my health is improving. My daily time on SparkPeople helps me to keep the commitment that I’ve made to myself. I want to see my glucose numbers connected with T2D lower too! I expect to see an improvement in my health by Christmas. I hope that you are also challenging yourself during this season leading up to the holidays!
