At 7 Zack left to go to his new job, delivering rural mail! Lucky guy gets to drive around and see all the neat country side and get paid to do it!
Angela decided to clean scrub all the water containers, except the big swimming pool, it is about history..needs to go see the dumpster once cold hits. We'll get the geese a new one come next Spring.
While she did that I cleaned up Blue Boys nest box and lined it with lots of fresh straw. We will see in the AM if he pulls it all out. He did last time I did a clean up job on the nest.
Then raked out the chicken house , about the time I started shoveling stuff into the wagon Angela showed up to help so we got it done super fast. Then put fresh straw down for the girls.
I also grabbed an idea I had seen, make a nest box out of an old cat sand bucket. So I did, it took some doing to set it firmly so they won't knock it off. Got fresh hay in both nest boxes.
Any bets as to whether or not they will use the new one? My bet is that all will continue to lay in the old nest box...tis home!! Sure enough this PM there were two eggs, in the old nest box!
Yep chickens are creatures of habit.
Tonite my back and shoulders are reminding me that this gal needs to slow down a bit. My theory is..if you slow down you begin to rust then you end up like the tin man barely able to move. So I am gonna keep pushing it so I don't freeze up and rust away..
However a warm soaky bath and a soft bed are sounding really good about now!
Nite ya'al ..have an enjoyable Sunday!
