Building consistency in my morning walks
Thursday, October 15, 2020
When my husband and I started our morning walk it was a struggle for me to walk just 10 or 15 minutes. I would resist doing it. We started just walking around the corner and down the next street and back. He didn’t push me, but we gradually added extra streets, going down one cul-de-sac and then another. Then we started walking around the block.
When I got used to that we ventured a little farther, slowing adding more minutes. My body adjusted. We now walk around a bigger block and consistently walk for 60 minutes.
We started back in March when Covid-19 hit and he started to work at home. We begin our walk pre-dawn, and right now it is light when we get home. That will gradually go away as the days shorted and the dark increases. Then it will peak and begin to reverse itself.
