Evaluation Time -- Better Things To Come

Saturday, October 24, 2020

When I began SP again, I took to heart what SparkGuy said that when you begin to do small goals and accomplish them, you will be motivated to continue to set goals and accomplish those. (Those aren't the exact words, but that is what stayed with me.)

Besides, I am in a much better space than I was two years ago and able to hear and see how true his words are. After sticking with ten minutes of some form of exercise a day, I am at the point where I find ways to be more active. I used to dread walking or housework; and even gardening was wearing on me. The extra weight just kept pulling me down physically and emotionally.

This week I was counting my blessings as I see that I can work outside and do indoor work for more than 120 minutes a day, as well as walking! The only thing wearing me down are my pants are getting too loose and I have to find ways to keep them up. What a super problem to have. After years of being so down about clothing being too tight or looking horrible on me, I don't really care about the clothes as much as how much my body is able to do!

All those little goals are now adding up to bigger accomplishments. Going through drawers, cabinets and closets to get rid of things I don't need is a huge task that I didn't want to face. Now I am enjoying the process. Cleaning the pantries, oiling the woodwork, and playing with the kitties as they go into the cabinets with me to see what they can find has become a joy and not a reason to get on my case.

When I was in the throes of burnout, I never could fathom such a time as now. Ask me when I was 217 lbs. and stressed out if I could envision a time like now--no way. But a step at a time and a goal at a time has gotten me to where I can envision better things to come.

Wow! I am in about the same kind of place! And when I first started, I weighed about that same amount. I sure do feel better now, and I'm glad you do, too!
