2021 - 100 Days | Phase 1 - Day 23 - Bitter Cold so Stayed Indoors

Saturday, January 23, 2021

Daily picture of my backyard on the mountain to track the changing seasons this year.

Evening Report

Today was bitter cold and the winds were extremely gusty. All day, I heard the wind blowing through the trees outside and whenever I looked, many of the trees were swaying and bending far over. The poor trees didn't look like they wanted to be outside either. emoticon emoticon

Even in my house, there seemed to be an extra chill. I could not muster any motivation to go out today, except to run to the mailbox. The wind literally felt like icy needles on my face and, although I wore winter gloves, just the walk down and back up the driveway left my fingers and legs feeling like ice sticks. Nope, couldn't do it. Except for the photo above, it was even too cold to take off my gloves to take some pictures.

I did some walking around my house but seriously, what I mostly did was to curl up in some fleece blankets on the sofa and read books with some tea and coffee throughout the day.

I overate a bit today on my portions. Hopefully it won't affect me too badly since I did well most of the week and I did get a lot of lengthy fitness walks in. I'm just calling this a rest day. I'm not sure how the next few days will go because they're predicting the same kind of weather and temperatures with several days of snow next week.

I'm already ready for Spring. emoticon

Time for some hot chocolate with fat free Cool Whip. emoticon

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. Praying we get an early Spring.

Today’s Success:

1. Ate healthy but overdid my portions today. :(
2. Walked for 30 minutes around the house.

Yup, super cold and rainy here this weekend. I had to do church outside today. Brrr! I was so glad to get home into warmer clothes. I went outside around 4:30 to see if I could walk but it was so gray and cold and it looked like it was going to start raining, so I came back inside. Turned into a rest day for me too!

Tonight, I made your creamed chicken over biscuits. I have tweaked the recipe to make it how I like it (I add extra frozen veggies and a little white wine) and it came out so good. Definitely an enjoyable dinner and looking forward to the leftovers. Thank you for posting that a while back!

I totally get it. I have been able to get 10,000 steps or more every day for months but now that I can't really get out with Daisy it's pretty darn hard to get even half that. I've been on my treadmill every day but that's just not as fun and too boring to do for very long.

Daisy and I are also ready for spring!

You did exactly what I would do on bitterly cold days -- stay in, stay warm, read a book and take it easy!
(I must admit, though, that I'm a wimp and it doesn't have to be too cold for me to bundle up and stay in.)
Hope your power stays on throughout the coming week.

I think all those who follow you agree, snuggle, warm tea or hot cocoa, rest and either a good book or a good movie. Have a good evening.

I am with you Karen when it is too cold I stay in. I am doing what you are doing right now wrapped in my fleece blanket. Good day for a rest day for sure. Yumm, that hot chocolate looks so good, thanks for the idea about the cool whip. I am going to try that. I pray for Spring too, we got snow just now emoticon
