Rocky Mountain Sheep - 2-24-21

I was fortunate on my drive down to Denver to spot a herd of Rocky Mountain sheep!
Cyndi Marlowe got the closeup of the fellow above. The herd I spotted was right next to I-70 (not sure why they congregate there, but that's the place I typically spot them). Kevin Dietrich was willing to do the hard work of going into THEIR territory:
He's such a terrific wildlife photographer - it's almost as though they posed for a family portrait:
Kevin climbed to 9500 feet to get these photos, so he needed to be as agile as THEY are!
We have a bright blue day of sun sparkling on snow. I am telling Spellbinder stories to two different 2nd grade classes today. This month I found two stories from a storyteller named Dan Keding - a folktale from Missouri (The Doll that Caught a Thief) and a true story about Buffalo Bill Cody when he was a Pony Express rider. The second story requires giving them a lot of background on why the Pony Express was even necessary, and ends with the fact that Buffalo Bill is buried on Lookout Mountain just outside Denver. Looking forward to seeing how engaged they are for these particular stories!
