I really prefer white on the tree. I like to switch up the theme of the tree every so often, and white just goes with everything. I do like the icicle lights. I don't think they are out of style. I think that, when used right, they can look pretty neat.
Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. I love all of the bright lights, and how happy people tend to be. It's a good time.

Blue Icicle lights hang from the eves at our home since my partner likes those (I would go for multicolor), and multicolored little lights on the tree. (And "little" lights is certainly not what I grew up with--LOL they were large, cluncky ones!!)
I really dislike the projector lights for outside...and would hate to spend the $$$ on most blowups and find a place to store them!

I prefer simple, traditional decorations- garlands, red ribbons, white lights. I hate the projections. Inflatables are not my thing either. However, I did enjoy the crazy houses growing up- the ones with all manner of decorations in bright, garish colors covering the house and lawn. I just don't want that to be my house and electric bill.
I prefer white on the tree; DH prefers multicolored. Now we both get what we want with LEDs that can change color. Multiple options with a remote.... we are both happy!
We do not do icicle lights. I like them when they are hung properly... like where actual icicles would fall. Most people fail at that in my area.
The blow ups are silly, IMHO. Too much crass commercialism with them. But I don't care what others do as far as their choice in decorations. Their house and yard... their choice!
