thanks for the welcome messages and the tip about doing the 28 day challenge - actually I have been doing it and a few others.
I have really been trying more lately - I've been trying to loose weight for quite awhile but it never really went to great because to be honest I never really made the commitment to work at it like I should
When I had all my health issues going on I lost 50 pounds! I was soo happy - not about the WAY I lost it of course but that I lost it! Now that I am doing much better health wise I have gained 30 of the pounds back! I REFUSE to let myself gain back the entire 50 - - I DO NOT want to go back there!!
- I am not a stress or emotional eater - I don't really eat very many sweet at all - I can take them or leave them - my main problem is I LOVE FOOD - just plain old fashioned food! Pasta, potatoes, etc.
But since joining SparkPeople I have been reading ALOT and taking the different challenges and really trying to eat more healthy!
I can do really good all day until evening then usually end up eating either the wrong thing or to much and in the evenings I always get the munchies! I honestly do try to stick to healthy snacks - in the evening I mainly try to eat nuts, or popcorn.
But I do think SparkPeople and all you lovely ladies is going to be a big help!

How are you doing with all the groups you belong to - are you able to participate on a regular basis on them.

Hi Pam, Welcome to SparkPeople! There are lots of us tackling healthy lives at older ages. I’m a few years older and have enjoyed the site very much. It keeps me honest and active. Using the 28 day program will help you get going and good for you for jumping right into the message boards. Exploring teams is useful too. Finding ones with regulars who share your interests can really help.
Start out with the "SparkPeople 28-Day Program" that you'll find under the "Learn" tab at the top of the page and it will give you a track to run on. I can only tell you from years of personal experience and also watching others succeed here that this really does work if you're honest with yourself and stick with it for the long haul. I recently joined SparkPeople and have posted a few messages but not really sure who all is seeing them?
I will be 71 on the 28th and I need to get myself in better shape! I am trying sooo hard to loose weight and get healthy.
My husband and I both had major heart surgery in 2017. We both had other issues after that - one was my husband developed dementia and I just had lots of complications after the surgery.
My dear husband passed away in March 2017. I am finally doing much better health wise - still a few issues going on, but better! I have my family here to help me.....my daughter has been amazing - with out her I don't have a clue how I would have made it thru it all....my 23 year old grandson is now living with me. I also have a son 39 years old who currently lives in town but is getting ready to move 3 hours away to a very small community - He works at Pizza Hut and he just got promoted to be the store manager of the Pizza Hut in Tucumcari NM. So he is busy trying to learn the new job, find a place for him and his son to live and getting moved!
I was in the Air Force - that is where I met and married my Jim. After he retired fro Air Force we moved to New Mexico. I worked for 10 years at Sears, then I worked for around 10 years for the local newspaper, after that I worked around 5 years at the local Genealogy library....I am retired now. Don't really do much of anything except try to get together with family when can - and I do still attend TOPS.
Well - enough of a book for now - just wanted to introduce myself.... JOined SparkPeople cause it seems to have lots of helpful tips, contests, etc. and because I need the answerability to others!
