I just noticed the wreath picture is on it's side, it is actually hanging with the welcome upright, lol.
Our minister broadcasted live this morning also. And some members of the church had recorded songs, did the announcements, and read the responsive readings all from their homes. Pastor Kyle was all alone in the church and did a great sermon. Then at the end we all went to another web site where he ask three questions. It was very cool to have some interaction with the congregation yet all be safe. I enjoyed it.
Then Jerry and I took a brisk 2 mile walk in a brisk wind, lol. Now I am vegetating on my couch.
I have a friend who lives alone and she was getting down not being able to go anywhere, then I started reporting my PortaPotty adventures. This cheered her up so if I can make one person less lonely then I am grateful for that.

Oh, Pat, what a hoot! I guess you could have run out and grabbed some free toilet paper?! Glad you are so easily entertained, lol~ I do like your very festive wreath!

Sue, I watched Mass on TV this morning. I sent a message to my sisters about it and one former teacher friend sent me a similar one...they are NOT practicing social distancing! There was a children's choir and the kids were all sitting and singing next to each other. There were people in the pews, close together, too. It's out of either Wisconsin or Minnesota, I think. But I figured all churches everywhere were doing streaming services without a lot of people around! We all need to keep praying as much as we can. So sorry you've had to change all the trips. My Georgia sister and her husband have cancelled a lot for spring and early summer, too.

Life is quite here, everyone seems to be falling into the COVID19 routine, basically staying away from each other. I spend so much time alone anyway, it’s not much different than my daily routine. Yesterday we canceled a couple upcoming trips. Like most, we needed to cancel now to get our full deposits refunded, no trip to Myrtle Beach, no trip to Florida. Oh well, we can go at a later date.

I’m sitting here watching our church service on TV. D hooked the computer to it. Wow! How far we have come in technology. The minister, musicians, readers, etc are all in different locations. Amazing.

May God walk with each of us every step of the way. 💕

And the PortaPotty in the street so you know I don't make these things up. Tried to send video of the flying toilet paper but it would not download.

Good Sunday morning all. I didn't post yesterday because I was on PortaPotty watch, lol. Let me explain, we live in a brand new development and construction on new houses is going on all around me. I can sit in my front bedroom and watch the activity with my feet up. And now that the windows are tinted (which I still hate) I can be completely anonymous. Well right next to our property in the next lot over there is a portapotty. I don't know why but I get a big kick out of noticing how often the workers walk right in front of my window to use the facility, lol. I have even witness a line to use it ewwww. Does this tell you how little it takes to entertain me?
Yesterday with all the workers gone I looked out the window and there was the PortaPotty in the middle of the road. We were having high winds and the only thing I can figure out is the wind blew it out there. Why it did not tip over was a mystery to me because twice before it has blown over. Well since I do have another life I just checked on it periodically and looked out and there was a long stream of white toilet paper blowing in the wind attached somewhere in front. It was really funny looking. Remember it does not take much to amuse me. Then by this time it was time to fix dinner so after dinner I looked again and the PortaPotty was back at the side of the road. Since there were no workers yesterday this gave me much to think about and try to figure out. Now you know my PortaPotty excitement aren't you glad I shared.
I did finish my wreath with the mesh that had glitter all in it. I did that outside and glittered my back yard. I also did three loads of laundry so my day was not totally unproductive. And who knows what excitement today holds, I can hardly wait!

Donna and Pam, I think it's wonderful that you are making masks! I will have to look in my fabric stash. There is a woman in my neighborhood who is making them. I know I have some cotton fabric and maybe a yard or so of elastic. I can certainly donate those. I doubt I could even figure out how to thread my machine!

I will 'attend' Mass on TV at 9:30 and then probably take a walk. It's cool and sunny....it's been 90 for several days!

There are now 810 cases in the Houston area. Some are police and fire fighters. They are exposed with no way to protect themselves. So far I don't know anyone who definitely has the virus. i haven't seen anyone except out for walks or on their driveways.

Stay safe!!

Pam sounds like you guys and we are in the same boat. I am waiting for 100% cotton material to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully it comes early in the day so I can wash it and iron it then start making mask on Tues. Getting elastic has been very hard. My daughter in law had some she bought a long time ago she mailed to me.
Mary, I believe many people had this in our area in Jan/Feb but it was called the flue. A big indicator is fever. Now I hear they say one of the first signs is you lose your sense of smell and taste.

Today's plan is to organize some jig saw puzzles from the 30's and 40's. My grandmother gave them to me probably 40 years ago. Most of them do not have a picture on the box only a word like "flower" or "Farm" I want to put them together, take a picture and kind of find out what to heck I have. We'll see how that goes. Have a peaceful day everyone.

Good Afternoon,

DonnaNY, yes I made that, and dozens of other "kiddie" clothes, mostly to keep me occupied. Actually, in that picture, the blue looks totally out of place with the dress, but in daylight, there are little blue periwinkle-type flowers in the pattern and the blue trim makes them stand out more. Today I spent 4 hours doing an assembly line of face masks. Apparently medical people want them to cover their N95 mask so that they can wear them twice, rather than the once they were meant for. It appears masks are in short supply in the hospitals. Of course that might have something to do with the fact that Trudeau sent $16M worth of medical supplies to China to help out, even though his own Health Minister told him he needed to PREPARE for it to hit Canada. Dumbass! (pardon me....) However, as much as I don't like the man much, he HAS managed to do everything else right for the population but that's probably only because his own wife came down with COVID after a trip to London, UK, and he had to quarantine himself for weeks after. LOL!

Mary, a dying rat? Oh good Lord. Mice is one thing, a rat is another. Ugh. Better you than me.

Everyone keep your chin up, and hopefully we'll get through this relatively unscathed. (I say relatively, because I do believe that things are going to change quite a bit after all this is over - not sure if that's a good thing or not, but we'll see.)

God bless,

I do hope your family will check on your mom, Donna. It’s so important now! Cherilyn talked to Greg, my younger son last night. He’s just now feeling better but is weak. He wonders if he had the Corona virus and didn’t realize it because it was so early on. He had fever, a cough, aches, but not too much chest pain/shortness of breath. The doctor said he had the flu and sent out Tamiflu. I guess we will never know.

Mary: I agree with you, the kids need some hands on activities. I asked my GS to each make mom a get well card. Hopefully they will do that today. I also asked them to go to mom once in the morning and once in the afternoon and ask what they could do for her. Of course I have no idea if they will do it or blow me off but at least I tried. I am so glad her shortness of breath is gone, now if she can get rid of her congestion.

Donna, after my week of woes I think I will take a nap this afternoon, too. I'm sleeping long each night but having weird dreams. Need a rest! Glad you had activities for all the grands. I used to love paper dolls! REmember Betsy McCall at the back of McCall's magazine?

I had a wonderful welcome visit from my daughter, the 3 girls and my son in law. We didn't hug, which was SO hard. My daughter and SIL swept out the garage for me. I backed my car out in anticipation of the garage door opener guy coming around noon....and here was a dying RAT under my car!! SO nasty. Steven scooped him up with a shovel and put him in the trash along with the leavings of the garage mess. No other surprises BUT he was looking at the garage sensor and noticed that the pest control guy had places one of the bait traps near the sensor....he moved it, reconnected the latch, and the garage door works again. I called the door opener guy who was just getting ready to come to me! So thrilled that it all worked out. I was able to give the girls their Easter surprises, books and puzzles. And my daughter didn't have any K-2 measuring activities. Voila! I went to my files and found her 4 books with activities that she can print out to use. So glad I could help with home schooling! And I htnk it will be a welcome thing to do real activities rather than just using the iPad that the school provided.

Rainy, dreary day here so not really doing any big projects. When you could still shop I had picked up these little wooden kits to make a car for the 2GS down the road. I didn't have anything for their sister so this morning went on line and printed out a few pages of Teen paper dolls. I cut out the doll and glued to cardboard so she's sturdy. GD will have to cut out her cloths if she wants them. Also have extra bits and pieces from card making she can design her own cloths. Next time I see them I'll give them the stuff to keep them a little busy some time next week. I usually treat myself to Flea Market Flip on Sat. mornings!
Pam, that was such a cute little dress, did you make it?
Donna Az, hope your daughter gets better. does she also live in Az?
Rita 9 quilts! wow that is work. Are these bed size? It took me 21 years to make one!! LOL
Mary, sounds like your putting up a big battle against your mice. I was laughing at the mention of squirrels. Of course we live in a wooded area and squirrels run up and down our porch all of the time. They even sit on our window and look in. They share the bird feeders.
Pat, it is good that DD and they are set up with wifi now. Teachers and school districts have really stepped up so our kids will still learn.
Hope everyone can take a nap this afternoon!!

After the pest control guy came back for round 2 yesterday and put out more bait and glue traps that I bought, I was getting ready to put my car back in the garage. I'd had a power failure for an hour and a half and the power came on right as the pest control guy got here. The garage door opener wouldn't work! Usually after a power failure I have to get on a ladder and unplug, then replug the switch. Nothing happened. Even the switch on the wall near the back door wouldn't work. I called the opener guy and he said to use the red hanging 'thing' and close the door manually. I did, but I had to have someone from next door reach up and pull the door down for me. The opener guy will be here by noon and my daughter is coming to bring me a couple of htings. It's hard to be isolated but it's the safest thing to do. I hope your daughter will continue to get better, Donna!

Good Morning. It is 25 degrees here so I am not going outside until it is above freezing.

DD is still home but struggling with covid 19. It is a tough disease and she is miserable. So hard not to be there and take care of her. Both my sisters dropped off dinners and medicine for her. All I can do is take her phone calls and bolster her spirits. She is not worse and that in itself is huge but the joint pain, fevers, GI issues, fatigue, and dizzyness is exhausting for her.

I guess I should be ashamed that I am home all the time and yet I can write my name in the dust...........
I'd rather play with my puzzle, crochet, walk, and make soup.

What are you all up to today?

Pam, your squirrels are like my mice! Invaders of our territory! Hope the cookies are great. My daughter is an introvert, even though she was and still is a very successful teacher! She loves her quiet time and is going crazy having her husband and all 3 girls at home all the time. She loves them dearly but says she has no time alone. Even going to the bathroom now is like it was when they were very small...they follow her around like puppies!

I cleaned the countertops in the bathroom and kitchen after taking everything off and using a granite cleaner. Smells great and all is gleaming. I did all the stainless steel, too, and will have fish with sweet potato tots, a salad, and sugar snap peas for supper. I think I'll finish up some pimento cheese at lunch with a sandwich and carrots with hummus. Then I will see about putting clean sheets back on the bed!

Good morning gals,

I had to give myself a pep talk this morning just to get out of bed. I was feeling down and "why bother getting up" when the clock buzzed. Every day is the same to me, yet I need routine and get anxious without it. Crazy I know. I have only suffered from anxiety for the last 15 years or so - never before. Big stuff does NOT make me anxious, oddly enough. The pandemic, my failed marriage, my divorce - none of those made me anxious. I get anxious now over the dumbest things. LOL! I'm just worried that by the time this pandemic is over, I won't want to step outside at all. I guess I should be grateful that I'm still not married or being stuck in a house with him would have been a tad difficult, to say the least. LOL!

A neighbour called Becky yesterday and said she was going shopping and did we need anything? I suggested a bag of Quick Oats so I could make cookies. Later Becky said the stuff was on the porch so I went out to pick it up off the chair. Well, wasn't there a wee squirrel chomping away at the oats? He/she had ripped a small hole at the bottom of the bag, and was having a nice feast. LOL! So I used a cup and scooped out a good amount from the top of the bag, and tossed the rest outside to the squirrel.

Well gals, clean up of my sewing room today ready for the prep for the next thing!

Have a great day and God bless,

We have plunged back into winter with our high today at 44 with winds up to 30 MPH. It will be cold all weekend and then next week we will be hitting the 70s. I wil need to fix the drip system because I will have to turn the sprinklers back on but now that I have dog resistant fences in place this should be the last time they get chewed up.

DD is not getting worse so that is good. Her MD "visits" her every day via tele health.

Pat: We don't have to do something significant daily, just if you do let us know. Last week I deep cleaned the stove and microwave and they sparkle.

I have to psych myself up to bundle up and get our AM walk in. It is below freezing now.

TGIF, my friends! It's in the 70's right now and should be 88 by 3:00. The pest control guy should come later in the afternoon. I hope to start doing some big cleaning today. I have some large containers from Costco snacks...just like the one that had corn for the ducks in that the mice chewed through, lol....and I've washed them. I will put my new cereal that the neighbor got me in them and put things back in the pantry. I haven't seen droppings in a couple of days. I go gingerly into the kitchen in the morning, turn on the light, and step back! I hate that feeling!! Anyway, I want some measure of control. I hope to back the car out over the weekend and sweep the garage as much as I can. It's a huge mess. I will set out more glue traps, too.

Pat, our golf course closed down at 6:00 yesterday. People have been out in full force. We are now allowed to walk the course...something that was not allowed previously. Not all of our streets have sidewalks so that will be nice to have a different view. How is Stephanie doing with having Decklan at home? Is the trying home school or is his school not doing classes online?

Sue, I still have a half tank of gas from the beginning of the month and haven't been more than 60 miles in the whole month. I wish there was some place pretty to drive to....but even Galveston is off limits now. Hope the cherry blossoms are beautiful now.

Rita, you will have all those quilts made in no time! I hope you can get the fabric online. I have so much paper and am enjoying making cards. I have 2 friends in the neighborhood who are rather recent widows. One is someone I'm not really close to but I have heard she's just having a hard time with the isolation. I made both of them a card yesterday and will deliver those on my walk today.

Pam, how is Leah doing? I hope as the time nears for the baby she will stay calm! This is a crazy time, for sure. Have you asked to be placed on the list? The guidelines here seem to be 'one person' with anyone in labor, but not designated as the husband only.

Donna AZ, any news about your daughter? I hope she is resting and is doing better.

Donna NY, is your weather harsh right now? Staying in is hard when you're prohibited by snow and rain!! Hope you are doing okay.

I guess I need to get ready for the day. I hope it's a good one for all of you!

Donna, that's a great idea to tell what we are doing. We now have so many extra hours in a day. I'm on the 2nd part of my 9 quilts. The 9 tops are done and I had DH open up our big round table and now I'm piecing the backs for each quilt top. I'm using the extra fabric from the fronts and figuring out how to make a big enough backing for each quilt. Once I get that done on each one, I make the binding so it will be ready after I get things quilted. So far I have 2 quilts done and ready for the batting and quilting. I'll plan to do that as 3rd part on these. I tried to do a third quilt today but just couldn't come up with enough fabric. Out of all my stash, none of it would work. I tried many fabrics from my stash but even DH agreed they didn't work. So, back to ordering on line! Until I can pull the mermaid backing together, I'll move on to working on another one!

Good evening ladies. Well Donna AZ I have nothing to report for today. I took the day off, lol. Tomorrow I will start another long over due project what ever that might be. And I for one am taking this virus very serious and am going to stay home for as long as it takes.
Yes for now the golf course is still open but the place is really taken extra precautions. Every one has their own cart, every cart is sanitized after each use plus DH wipes it again. He plays by himself or with one other person. He said they do not let them in the clubhouse and I say thank goodness he has something to do once in a while. He is staying home the next three days so Pam you might want to ask me again, lol.
Donna NY I am glad the Internet situation for your daughters family has improved. I have been amazed at all the resources on the Internet for entertaining and teaching all the kids home from school.
Mary I also hope your mouse problem is resolved. And you are so much braver than I am by picking up those live mice. I would never ever pick up a mouse dead or alive.
Sue a ride in your part of the country would be very pretty this time of year. We are starting to green up here, so we might be taking a drive too. But I still feel safer right here at home.
Oh by the way Pam you were right about leaving here for awhile then coming back and it will feel more like home. And it did and it does. Actually through all this it feels more and more like home.
Well it is getting late so need to finish my chores and head to bed.

Pat from Kansas

It sounds like you had a really good day, too, Donna! I'm glad your grandchildren got their hot spots. My granddaughters are sharing a district provided iPad loaded with all the first grade apps that they need. My daughter is doing a fantastic job of teaching them and added great extras.

I took another nice walk and made a hamburger for supper. It's a lovely day and tomorrow is supposed to be pretty, too. Then some well needed rain. My glue traps arrived and I hope the pest control guy will 'see' things in the attic that are DEAD> My county is closing down right now and people are being asked to only leave for essentials.

Wow looks like everyone is busy cleaning stuff out and taking care of others. Today was really nice out so DH and I took walk down the road to DD and family house. We all sat out on the porch and 6' away from each other Today is GS's birthday so he showed us his ipod which he is very proud of. They do not have to come up and use our wifi now as the school was able to give them a hot spot that seems to be working. DD lap top can hook up to our wifi if she sits on their porch in a certain spot, so it's all coming together DH and I are playing Rummy in the afternoons, and I mended a blanket that had a thin spot in it. Darn thing kept getting my toes caught in it so I finally mended it! Tomorrow is suppose to be cool and rainy Got dvd from Netflix today "Yellowstone" with Kevin Closter. It is suppose to be good. Yes, we get Netfix on TV and also DVD's There are a lot of things you can't get on the TV streaming that you can with the DVD. We watched Game of Thrones, Outlander, Doc Martin all on the DVD because we don't get HBO or Starz. Hope everyone has a good evening. Hang in there. NY is hoping to start leveling off, but I am afraid it is all heading you guys way (west) Please stay as far away from people as you can so it won't be as bad in other states. NYC- which is on the other side of us- is really having a hard time.

We ALL need to make a concerted effort to stay OUT of grocery stores. Stock up and stay home! You really don't want to get this virus. My DD has me stripping when I get home besides washing my hands before and after unpacking the goods.
Self isolating does not include going to the store every week or multiple times a week.

I need to get out of this chair and not only do my second walk but start doing some chores that are waiting for me.

DonnaAZ, that an interesting idea. I cleaned my pantry and unlike Mary, found NO mice. But I did find a lot of packaged good that I’d forgotten I had and also despised of things with 5-10 year past expectation dates. Good job done.

I'm so silly! Worrying about that video chat wore me out! It's a pretty day and I will take a nice walk right after supper. I need to plan my meals for the next few days. That should keep me busy! Brazoria County will shut down at 6 tonight. I might do take out from one of my favorite restaurants in case they decide that pick up won't be allowed in another few days! I need to make some more cards. That was a great passtime yesterday. I did 2 Zoom chats yesterday with MWC leaders. Today I will rest up. Nothing going on here except now the golf course is closed. They have made a killing in the last couple of weeks since groups and individuals could play and still be away from each other. Now to get the older ladies to give up bridge!!

Man, you are all busy. I’m bored to death. Grocery stores don’t seem to be an issue here, although still no toilet paper, everything else seems to be available. We have not had any problems with crowds and all folks seem to be keeping their distance from each other. Store works are busy restocking shelve.

Spent yesterday cooking. After an early grocery store run, I spent the rest of the day cooking for the freezer. Today I’m bushed and just relaxing and resting.

I also watched SELF MADE. It was very good and I always enjoy anything with Octavia Spencer. I binge watched all 4 segments the other day. The rest of TV seems to be boring me these days. I don’t feel terribly depress, just bored. Can’t seem to muster any interest in working on sewing or quilts. Eating on the other hand -🤐. I need an outside break. It’s cool, but quite nice out. I have a full tank of gas, so a nice long ride to nowhere, preferably by myself, may be my pleasure for today. Better than sitting home with D.

Pat they closed golf courses here. The Old Duffers are up in arms. Rules were, no group playing, no 4somes, single players only. No one would comply, so they all got closed.

I don’t have any urge to shop, God knows I don’t need anything. But I would like a change of scenery or some folks to chat with. Husband is here, but he is the poster child for the question-“Is it better to be alone or be with someone that makes you feel alone?” Trust me, I know the answer.

I’ve read until I can’t see straight, fortunately my Kindle is loaded with books. I’ve also be busily working on a large stack of magazines, reading them cover to cover and then chucking them in the recycle bin. Still have a long way to go. As for unpacking boxes, I’ve opened one and put stuff away. The rest are mostly filled with family inherited stuff that I don’t want anyway. Better off leaving them closed for now.

Ok, it’s time to grab a bit for lunch and hit the roads for my ride. I’m living the longer days and much lighter days. S

Good morning ladies,

It's getting harder and harder to find things to talk about when we're all just sitting around the house. I'm still going into my "workshop" in the afternoons and spending a couple or few hours on sewing stuff. I find it very therapeutic and it keeps my concentration off of other stuff that I don't want to think about. LOL!

Kerry, how are things in Florida? I read that a LOT of people in Florida have no intention of observing the isolation protocol. Considering that the biggest demographic of Florida is the over 65's, that's a dangerous attitude to take. I know a lot of snowbirds have come back across the border lately, and they're not following the rules. The rule is when you cross the border, you go straight home and self-isolate for 14 days, no matter what. Get neighbours to shop for groceries for you, or shop online. Either way, the old farts are driving straight to a grocery store and shopping after they cross the border. A big no-no, and the powers-that-be are getting a bit annoyed with them. They are likely to be fined.

Rita, I loved your "drive-by Happy Birthday" with your granddaugher - so cute!!

Sue, how the self-isolation going. Hopefully this will be over in a few weeks. If nothing happens, then the self-isolation will have done its job, but then people will grumble about the "wasted" time. If the isolation protocol does NOT work, and COVID goes wild on the population, then some will grumble anyway. This is really a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation.

Pat, are you still sane? LOL!

Mary, hopefully whatever the pest control guy did will work eventually on those wee furballs. Sometimes it takes a few days to notice. Keep your fingers crossed!

DonnaAZ are your couple capable of going out to shop or anything like that? Are they aware of the outdoor situation? I'm just hoping that you don't show up one day to find them coughing and sick!

DonnaNY, good luck with sewing all your surgical supplies. Hopefully they will assist people in nursing homes.

Rain today. It is already getting dark and gloomy out there. Sunshine makes SUCH a difference to one's mood!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

I have a mediocre idea. What if when we do something we are proud of, or something we haven't done for a long time, etc. we tell each other. It might be inspiring to each other.

Pat said she rearranged her kitchen drawers and has a stylish linen closet now.

I realized when I could not cut a tomato that I needed to sharpen my knives. Done

I do remember now about the RV being totaled, Donna. So glad, actually! Now would not be the time for them to roam! I saw some funny FB pictures of a dog on top of the kitchen cabinets, afraid because his owner had taken him on many, many walks, lol! I'm sure your dogs are loving it.

I am SO proud of myself! I had my video chat with the surgeon's nurse. She answered my questions and looked at my incision. She said one more month of restrictions for lifting so as not to cause a hernia. Hmmm....they told me 2 weeks! And I've not been really lifting anything heavy but I've done housework. I will be careful, for sure!

I didn't see any indication of inside mice. The pest control guy will come tomorrow and check the traps. My glue traps are coming today. I will put them all over the garage. I want the mice GONE!

Good Morning all:

We are expecting high winds and cooler temps today. AZ news says our hospitals won't be strained to capacity until the end of April going into May. We are behind the big cities and states. I wish our state would do shelter in place NOW before it spreads anymore but that is not happening. I feel safe at home and so far surprisingly content to stay out of society.

Mary: My respite couple totaled the RV last year in TX. He is also staying out of the stores so that is good.
I am sorry about your mice. Can the exteriminator come back and help?

I have a few things to keep me busy around here and my personal challenge is to walk the dogs 3 times a day. When the 40 MPH winds hit later today I probably won't be outside.

I'm still in the throes of trying to outwit the mice! I had my pantry all cleaned up and reorganized with things put back on Monday...and found a few little 'presents' yesterday morning! So I took out those boxes and put everything into Tupperwear containers. Of course, now I am low on THOSE! My sweet neighbor did get me almost everything I wanted/needed and I took an inventory of my frozen foods so I'm set for that. I made several cards to send to friends who are struggling with being home alone. I will send those out today. I also have a videochat with my surgeon this morning. I hope that will do fine!

Pat, good for you telling Jerry 'how the cow ate the cabbage,' as my mother used to say! We're all in this together and your sanity is as important as his! The golfers are still going strong here...I guess because it's outdoors. But so many of my neighbors are still playing bridge and that worries me. Most are well over 70.

Donna, I hope the husband will be able to take care of the wife when you aren't there. Does she listen to him? And he hasn't had a 'wild hair' to get in the RV and go anywhere, has he? Are his kids still in touch with you?

DonnaNY, are the grands still coming over to do schoolwork? My daughter was able to get a free iPad from the twins' school to be used for lessons. She's supplimenting with all the things she used when she was teaching and I have SO much to give them this weekend. The teachers are overwhelmed, of course and are one step ahead rather than a week or two out. If we knew what to expect I could help organize at least the language arts stuff! My last 7 years I taught 1st grade. Previously I taught kindergarten and 2nd grade, so I have loads of activities.

I need to get ready for the day. I'll try to check in later!

I do respite care for a 90 yr old couple. They definitely need me there.

I am done with stores. I have what I need and feel safe within my own walls.
DD is home as are her 2 boys 8 and 10 yr olds, and DH who works for Apple in Silicon VAlley is also working from home. DD is a high school teacher and is supposed to teach virtually also so she has really been struggling trying to juggle it all and meeting everyone's needs.

Pat: I have been saying that everyone is going to have the cleanest houses and the prettiest yards by the time this is all over. I know my stovetop and microwave sparkle.

Just got through day two of our shelter at home order. We got home Sunday afternoon, found out our county would go into a shelter in place on Tuesday at 12:01am. So Monday we went to our grocery stores we use and stocked up. Now I am staying home. Supposedly we are to be in quarantine for 4 weeks so I am pacing myself, lol. The first day I organized my linen/medicine closet, and today I got all my kitchen drawers organized. Ever since we moved in I had not liked how my drawers were set up. Now I do. Tomorrow it is pantry time. I have organized that space several times so will try one more time to have it stick, lol.
And Rita three friends from the Y and I are going to have coffee tomorrow at 9 via Zoom. I had never heard of it before now I have heard of it three times.
And yes Pam living with an A personality is a challenge. I finally told him if we were going to be stuck in this house for all this time he was going to have back off, lol. And then we found out the golf course is open YEA! They are taken extra precautions but he played today and will play tomorrow.
The one good thing that has come out of all this is I now hear from my kids more often, making sure we are OK.
Donna so sorry to hear about your daughter Karen. I am praying she has mild symptoms and feels better fast.
Mary hope you finally got your groceries.
And Donna NY I hope your craft order gets there. We heard deliveries were only being made for essential items, what ever that means.
We had temps in the 70's this evening so there is a hint of spring.
Be safe everyone!

Donna Az. What do you do for work? Around here most people are at home unless essential. So I am assuming you have an important job. Hope your DD starts feeling better. Does she have to stay in quarantine for like 14 days, is that possible for her? Does she have children or husband around. They say private bath if possible (we only have one so would be hard) or you have to keep cleaning it. Hope it all works out for everyone!

Huh, I just got notice that now Walmart is shipping the dog food to my house!! Yeah! I don't have to go back to the store.

My DD in CA has been diagnosed with presumptive corona virus. That means by an MD phone call she is presumed to have it. They will not test someone her age unless she is in the hospital. They are on a 14 day quarantine now. She has fatigue, fever, and shortness of breath. I am hoping that her asthma does not kick in.

I am off to work soon. My back is already yapping at me. I may have to take it easy at work today.

Mary: The reason I waited so long at pick up is because the girl that got the "ding" that I was there was assigned to do something else and she decided to finish what she was doing!!!!! The lady that waited on me told her in the future to get a hold of electronics and send them in. GEEZ!

I now have the cleanest, shiniest stove top and microwave on the block. I ran the auto oven cleaner last week but it triggered all my smoke alarms. Oh boy, what a fiasco that was.

I have been watching 100 humans on Netflix . It is interesting and very non scientific but amusing all the same.

It IS frustrating, Donna, when we do what 'they' say to do to limit contact and it just doesn't work out. I know it's hard to stay put. I need to start watching Outlander again and see if I have more Grace and Frankie's to watch! I now have food and I printed out a good 'what to clean on what days' room by room thing from FB. That should help keep me busy!!

I had ordered a couple of things online that I couldn't find in the stores. This was going to be my last run and then I'm IN. Walmart would not deliver to my house nor the Wal Mart 2 miles away. I had to drive to the next town which is fine. I called and asked where pick up was located so I could just go there, in my store it is just inside one of the doors. He said I had to walk to the back of the store so I gave him my order number and said I was on my way. After doing their kiosk thing I waited 10 min until someone happened to come out of the back. She then tried to give me the wrong order and finally I only got one of the 3 things I ordered. Not worth the risk at all. So frustrating because when the dog food comes in I can repeat the process.

DD in CA keeps reading me the riot act to stay home. I am trying but since this is only going to get worse I want to get everything NOW before the risk increases. That is my theory but DD doesn't agree. I figure I have about 2 months worse of food.
I haven't had any contact with friends in 2 weeks and except for the elderly couple I work for I am not around people. My activity is down about 95%.

Donna, thanks for the Netflix suggestion. I always am looking for something new.

I'm glad you got out to get what you need, Donna. Our local judge was on TV when I got out of the shower this morning, an hour ahead of time. We will go on lockdown with the exception of essentials like groceries and doctor visits as of midnight. My accountant has emailed a lot in the last few days to please get my tax info to him. I've had 2 surgeries, the mice, and a dead battery to take up my mind....not on taxes! So I spent a couple of hours organizing and went to the office as directed. They were going to do a drive by like Best Buy. I texted and called when I got into the parking lot. It's a mom and pop place so not a big lot. No one responded! I finally got out of the car and walked in, rang the bell, and handed my stuff to one of the people. So much for 'no contact zone!' But it's done now.

I tried 2 times to do the online ordering this morning. Both times I got messages that I had called 'outside the call times.' No, I called exactly when they said to! After the 2nd time an hour later, I gave up, very frustrated. A sweet neighbor called to say she was at HEB and had finished HER shopping and what could she get for me?? I asked for 2 things but she kept saying 'now what?' She was able to to get all but maybe 3 things I wanted!! So now I'm set. I told her she was the Angel of Country Place!

My incision has only a few small places that still have glue. Man! He made my navel a tiny slit, so I don't want to pull at that glue. One of the places where they put the camera for the laparoscopy still has glue, too. But I am feeling stronger every day and am so glad that this is behind me. The surgeon's office texted to ask if I was still planning on keeping my appointment on thursday! I texted back that they have asked me to do a video conference at 2:00 that day. I hope they remember that!!

Have a peaceful rest of the day, my friends.

Drove down to the drug store first thing this a.m. to pick up script. Stopped at 1 of the 2 grocery store in our town and will be good for a couple weeks I believe. Also picked up a couple things for DD and left on her porch. DH went with me for the ride but stayed in the car. He doesn't move real fast and didn't want to slow me down! LOL. Took one hour and 10 min altogether from time we left until we got back. Had "brunch" and now we are back to our quiet life. Guess I'll bake some bran muffins for our breakfast. Been watching some movies on Netflix and Prime that we never heard of. Some are good. Netflix has new series "Self Made" that is real good. check it out if you can. Try to exercise your smile muscles, and stay healthy.

Donna NY, I am seeing more and more that people are sewing the masks. Great job. It's so amazing that elastic has sold out, though. You have it on hand and never need it, then all of a sudden you just can't get it. Crazy!

Donna AZ, I will try for delivery tomorrow. I am try8ing to make a list of under 20 items. Nothing that I'm desperate for, but I have very little fresh food left!

Nothing new in this world. I do have a new project as soon as my supplies come in a week. Our quilt club is making surgical mask. It is not the kind that nurses and people working directly with sick persons, but nursing homes etc want them to keep any persons with colds, etc from spreading to others. A call must have gone out to the sewing world in the last couple days, and you can't find any 1/4" elastic any place, even on line. I have a little in my sewing machine drawer so that will make a few. I did get some .75' which is bigger than the pattern but probably Ok for bigger people. They say should be able to get it in April some time. I'll keep looking.
Talked to grandkids for a few min through the storm door this morning. Odd times. Stay busy and stay healthy

Mary. I got to work and while my little guy couldn’t get a click list date for days he was able to place a home delivery for the same day, today!!! It’s all in the timing.

I should be good for a while but I hear you about the kids chastising you. If I go out I am careful, quick, and observant. I haven’t seen any friends in almost 2 weeks so no close exposures. I figure my area is behind the big cities so if I am going to need anything it is better to get it now rather than when we are a hot spot.
My curling iron died today. As much as I’d like to replace it I am not going out again

Rita, I'm making a list of things I need to fill in the gaps and I think I will get up early tomorrow and do a quick Sprouts run. They were nicely stocked last week and since they don't do cleaners or paper goods there wasn't a nasty crowd running people down. I can get fresh items to fill in and be out of there in a few minutes.

My hope for all of us is that we come through this whole and sane!!

It's been a week plus since we've been home bound. This first week has been just fine but I wonder what I'll think if this goes on for any length of time. I know some who can't stay home and just have to be out at the stores. I get some memos from the emergency doctor at our huge medical complex and he is very convincing to stay home and do without.

Yesterday my closest friends from TOPS did a ZOOM visit. It was so fun to see them and talk with them. I am making progress on my 9th quilt top so next I'll start on the backings for all of them. I'm thinking I'll be piecing them with left over fabric as I don't need fabric with llamas, dinosaurs, sport teams, mermaids, Dr. Seuss, etc. I'm glad I have a project to keep me busy and not to be worrying about this crazy change in life.

I had lots of reading to do to catch up on your posts. I'm gad you are all doing well.

Donna, never having done the online ordering, I'm not sure how that will work. I am slowly making a list and trying not to be too picky. The senior ordering for HEB is from early morning through 1:00. I think I will give that a try tomorrow. Supposedly they deliver and one of my neighbors' sons is one of their delivery people! We'll see how this works. What I can't get from one store I will try for another. I also want to do a quick CVS run. Don't think I will tell my kids. Too much chastizing! I'm being very careful and haven't gone anywhere in public for over a week now!

Pam, I'm hoping your daughter will not have issues about staying home. I have friends who just can't stay put and one has already told me how depressed she is. She is not a home body and can't find anything she likes: she doesn't particularly llike TV, has no hobbies, etc. and she doesn't like to read. That keeps me going just fine, thank goodness!

Cherilyn picked up an iPad provided from the school this morning. As soon as the girls opened today's lesson, the site crashed! Way too many kids trying to use it. She is frustrated because the girls are supposed to be logging in and doing 4 lessons a day then the teacher wants the parents to video reading aloud for each child so a grade can be given! I think it's going to be one big mess. I hope things will even out!!

Morning gals,

Woke up this morning to heavy snow! Doggonnit! It was supposed to rain, not snow. emoticon Oh well, good excuse to stay in anyway.

Mary, you are doing very well with your mouse issue, but you really need to put down some bait "bars" that will kill them (and any in a nest) permanently. I used to put a bar behind the stove, in the cupboard under the sink, and at the bottom of my pantry (where the food wasn't). The mice ate it, took it back to the nest, and after a couple of weeks, there was no sign of mousies! My cats were pretty useless, as they'd sit in front of the stove and stare underneath, but couldn't get to the critters. LOL!

Becky is getting a bad case of cabin fever. If she gets grumpy again today, I'm going to move out. LOL! She even went out and did some grocery shopping, and sat outside on the porch for awhile. But she is used to going out to work every day, going to visit friends, going out to supper, so she's finding this isolation difficult.

Pat, I'm glad you got back safely. Fill up the pantry and get ready for Jerry to drive you crazy! emoticon It must be awful being cooped up with a Type A personality who cannot sit still for more than 10 minutes. LOL! Will he play board games with you? I am so glad my husband is now my ex. He refused to do anything with me, play cards, games, nothing. If I had to be cooped up with him now, I'd probably have killed him instead of divorcing him. emoticon

Grocery stores being open at 6am is terrible for me. At 6am I'm just getting up for a pee and going back to bed! Being a night owl, and needing my full 8 hours of sleep makes for late mornings.

Anyway gals, have a good day!

God bless,

Our best grocery store set up Seniors only from 6-7 am and just made this decision yesterday. I was hoping word had not spread yet and went. There were more people than I expected but spread through the whole store wasn't bad. I was back in my car in 15 minutes. Then hand sanitizer on my hands, steering wheel, and gear shift. Bring groceries in, wash hands. Put groceries away, wash hands. Most people tried to stay 6 feet away in the store and if I had to pass someone in an aisle I held my breath before I got to them until I passed by them.
Mary: Online groceries are hard to find now. My 92 yr old that orders that way every week can not get a date to pick up groceries because it is on overload. Online (Amazon) groceries are out of stock for most things. Walmart will not deliver to your house anymore. Your best bet is to take advantage of senior times to stay out of the mainstream of people.

We are expecting some rain today but they pushed it off to afternoon. That allows me time to mow the lawn before work. Lucky for us it warmed up for the rain. Woke up to 39 which feels terrific.

Pat: Welcome home. Hope you have what you need to do your crafts.

I'm glad you made it back just fine, Pat. I hope the shelter in place will work. We are not under it yet. I have a few things that I would like to get but for now I'm stay8ing put. I ordered more glue traps via Amazon last night. I caught 2 more mice yesterday overnight. Ugh.

I will put things back in my pantry today. I'm tired of living like I just moved in! I will hear from my eye doctor at some point about how to arrange my virtual visit tomorrow.

I need to figure out how to order groceries online. Never done that. Maybe I'll become a techie after all, lol!

Most stores are setting up Senior hours usually early in the morning. The point is to cut down on exposure to others that may have it, ( e.g. children and young adults). If the store is not crowded try shopping during those hours. Hopefully the store was disinfected overnight and restocked with food.

Well we are back home now. We drove in a drizzly rain all day. Our county is implementing a shelter at home order starting Tuesday at 12:01am. All
non- essential businesses will be closed. We have to go out tomorrow and restock our fridge and I am sure a lot of other people will be out too. Jerry is installing a door in our basement utility garage. The door he ordered is in. This will give him something to keep him busy. I am sure with this new order for non-essential businesses to close that means the golf course will be too, so no golf for him for awhile. I just hope our weather clears up so we can get outside in our yard. It is going to be a long few weeks.

Well, I can add more accomplishments to my accomplishments, lol! I caught 2 more mice, ordered new cordless phones online from Best Buy and used their drive through pick up! Then when I got home, only 10 minutes away, I reprogrammed my electrical and navigation system in my car since the new battery obliterated all my info! AND I’m down another 2 pounds!!

Odd Sunday. Watched church services on TV, very quiet even for a dead end road. We usually can hear traffic from the main road but traffic is down. I never thought I lead a very social life, but I guess I was more social than I thought. I even talked my DH into playing Rummy this afternoon. He even said he'll play it again. I think it helps his brain to exercise it.
Mary, you have had a heck of a month! surgery, mice, the sprinklers, car battery. and you are still looking on the bright side of life. Keep up the good attitude.
Sue. We live about 60 miles south of Buffalo. Have you ever heard of Holiday Valley the ski
resort? That's just about in our back yard. All of the kids worked there during vacation while in college. Now they take their kids there to ski
Donna Az. I'm with you. All of the young gals are wearing those legging, and I have a couple pairs of black for exercising in, but I wouldn't go out in public in them!
Hang in there everyone.

I am up and attem. Yesterday I slept 4 hours during my nap!! Never done that before. I still didn't have any energy when I did wake up. That was the first time I didn't mind just sitting around. Must have been tired.

The sunshine we woke up to is quickly being pushed out by a cloud cover. Yesterday was lovely to sit in the sun in the backyard. We are expecting rain tomorrow. I was hoping the fields would dry out so I could run the dogs.

All of our local groceries are finally on board including Costco letting Seniors shop first thing in the morning without being exposed to children and 20 yr olds. I am also hoping that they disinfected the stores overnight also and stocked them. One can hope.

No plans for today but will have to come up with something as I definitely feel better today. I'm still putting the house back together after having family here and need to finish the laundry.

My friend gave me a pair of leggings that are very bold. Bright blue large flowers against a black background. Definitely not me but I put them on and will wear them around the house. These will help me stay home as I wouldn't be caught dead in them.

Happy Sunday, my Sparklers. I'm hoping that a new week will bring some sort of renewal! The pest control guy said to wait a day or so before I put things back in the pantry. So I will do that tomorrow morning. I hate the mess and the discontent I feel looking at things strewn all over. But I know that if the traps work, I will be better off!

It was cold and rainy yesterday. The sprinkler guys who put dirt down a few days ago reset the sprinklers to go off 3 times a week. Well they went off Friday AND Saturday even though it had rained! So I traipsed outside last night and turned it off . I have standing water in places and don't need that aggravation.

After breakfast I will watch MAss on TV, then I will take an inventory of my pantry and all frozen foods today. Then I will make cards. I need to be somewhat productive! Cherilyn texted that since it was pouring at the park where they had their RV, they were heading home and would chat with me today. I talked iwth Greg, the younger son last night and he's feeling better. No fever, just a cough and head cold. So Tamiflu and a Z pack worked for him! So glad!

I hope you all will have a good Sunday!

It turned cold and rainy today here! The pest control guy came at noon and I moved my car out of the garage at a weird angle so I could miss hitting his car! When I tried to pull the car back into the garage, the battery died! I called AAA and they came right out, but I'm so tired of all this stress!

G'day mates!

Well, apparently North America is at the critical point right now. We either flatten the curve successfully at this point and slow the virus, or we go like Italy! Let's hope we're doing this right. I am positive that there are hundreds of thousands of people out there who have, or have had, this virus and don't even know it and they have been infecting everyone around them. This is the point where we learn whether them staying inside their homes was worth it or not.

Pat have a good trip back to Kansas.

Everyone else, have a good weekend!

God bless,

Happy Saturday. I slept very well and will have breakfast in a few minutes, then get things picked up that I've neglected the last few days. The pest control man will come at noon and I hope he will take over for the mice! I didn't find any more this morning but I haven't gone in the garage. I will when I take the trash out. Hope I don't find anything gross this morning!

DonnaNY, we had dogs for 33 years. My husband decided when my youngest was 2 months old that he wanted a hunting dog! He bought a purebred Brittany Spaniel. That dog was way too much to handle. It didn't like me, knew I was uncomfortable around him and he bit me! The vet said it was too dangerous in a house of 3 small children so I gave him away. After that we only had females from Citizens for Animal Protection...mutts! I think it's so silly that they now call them 'rescues.' They've always been rescues! Anyway, most of my neighbors have pets but I am pet free after the last 2 dogs. They were both 15 when I had to put them to sleep....old age, doggy Alzheimer's, cancer, etc. They were all sweet and wonderful dogs but I don't feel the pull to have any anymore. So sorry your grandson won't get his party. I hope he will enjoy the pie!

DonnaAZ, glad the folks made it on the road okay. Cherilyn and her family will be coming back tomorrow. they went to a state park and are having a good time as far as I know. It turned rainy and cooler last night so I'm not sure if they brought jackets...they kayaked and played around the campsite the last few days. Cherilyn brought wipes and wiped down the playground for HER kids. Then a man brought HIS kids and said 'oh, look...this lady has wipes...' and asked e=her to wipe down the equipment for HIS kids. Then he asked Steven to show him on the map where things were. Steven gave verbal directions to stay away from the guy and his kids....they ended up getting on their bikes and leaving because the guy wanted to socialize!! Their camp site is several sites away from anyone else.

Okay...I guess it's time to get moving! Happy Saturday, and Pat, safe travels!

Well, it is 5:15 AM and DD and fam are off. They want to do the 14 hour drive in one day. I loved having them here and it was a good visit. The house is very quiet now.

Donna, my GS had to cancel his 11th birthday party too. He was VERY sad as those are huge to do's in their family.

Our grocery stores have set up senior times only. They are first thing in the morning on certain days and I am hoping that if they restocked the night before maybe we can actually find some product. My little couple I take care of have been doing the click list for over a year but he can not get a pick up time as they are so busy. He will have to start shopping senior days and I will have to come over at 6 AM and watch the wife for him or do his shopping but I think he enjoys getting out of the house.

Pat: Hope you have a good ride home. I know how much you enjoyed Decklan but it must have been a challenge when you factor in all the road blocks you had to deal with. You must be tired.

Now back to normal eating. I didn't gain any weight but I did eat a lot of chips because they were laying around.

Good morning. A lot cooler out this morning, had to start a fire in the stove last night. We've been using the furnace but when it gets in the 20's we add the wood stove. Planning to make an couple apple pies this morning. DH has a sweet tooth which runs in his family. I could not eat the way he does. Make a pie, cut into 8 slices, and freeze, then pull out one a day for him. Will make a 2nd pie for DD and her family, take it down and put on their porch then they'll come out and get it. GS was suppose to have 10th birthday party today but of course cancelled. We will put his gift next to the pie. I'm thinking it will make the day a little special. His birthday isn't really until mid week but he was looking forward to his party today.
Mary, completely understand why you wouldn't want a cat. We've had cats and dogs my whole life, but I'm not really a crazy animal person. Pam is right about personalities of cats. Loretta, ours gets into a lot of trouble, but it gives us someone to blame lots of stuff on! She sets on DH lap whenever he is sitting in his chair. I think it is good for him.
Pat, I think I know the wreaths you are making. I made a July 4th one last year with red, white, and blue burlap, than put 2 small flags on it. I also did an Easter one and have a few of those plastic eggs glued on it, which reminds me I have to get that up. Have a safe trip home.
Sue, My sister also can't stand to stay in one place too long. She jumps in the car and goes for a ride. I think that we may do that early next week. We are lucky to have a lot of area to walk and chances of running into a person very very slim. Run into more deer, turkey, and birds than humans.
Hope everyone has a good day. I watch a lot of Yard Sale Flip or what every they call that show on Sat. Pat, I bet you'd love that show.

Pat, I know you really don't want to leave early but I thnk it's a wise decision. None of us knows what's in store tomorrow, much less in another couple of weeks. Decklan has had undivided attention and you've been fabulous, as always. Get home, stay safe, and he will be fine!

Pam all the things you mentioned are the bright side of this virus and the changes it is causing. And you are so right this is all in God's plan and what ever comes next. And I know what you mean about touching your face, I can not break the habit. I just try to keep my hands extra clean.
Jerry and I have decided to cut our visit 8 days short. We will be going back home on Sunday morning. The owner of the rental house will try to get us some money back from AirB&B. We are so afraid that Colorado will close down like California and New York and travel will not be permitted. I will of had 8 days with Decklan and as soon as this crisis is over he will come spend time at our house. It is tough keeping a 6 year old entertained when weather prevents outside play and you can't take him anywhere. Next week his mommy will be home schooling him plus he will be doing taekwondo via video for the classes he is missing. This should help keep him busy.
Once home I have some projects I can work on like getting my house organized finally. Then I can make some wreaths for every holiday, lol. And hopefully the weather will warm up so I can take some nice long walks now that I live where they have side walks for the first time EVER! The Y sent out an email saying they will be closed at least until After April 5 so won't be going there.
And I am so hoping I can get that song “It's a strange strange world we live in Master Jack” out of my head!

TGIF! I slept well but I'm waking up in crazy positions so my shoulders and back are out of whack. Yes, I caught the mouse! And no, I will NEVER get a cat. No offense to those of you who are 'cat people' but I don't like cats and I'm highly allergic! So that's out. I hope the pest control guy will take care of things tomorrow. And I can get more 'glue' traps if needed.

Sue, I'm so glad TJ will have a great side job! They are asking all over the Houston area for temp jobs for packaging and deliveries. I don't know how long any of this will last but I'm glad you and Jerry are able to get out for lovely drives.

Pam, yes, things have really slowed down. I hope all industries will take the time to deep clean, which they really aren't able to do most of the time, repair things that they've neglected, etc. Once this is all over I hope we will all be extremely appreciative of all the things we DO have!

Good morning girls,

Another quiet morning (except for the rain). It is a dark, very dreary day today with heavy rains and thunderstorms. Yuck. (Still better than snow though), which they are getting north of us.

Mary, since you don't have pets, get some of the bait blocks and keep them in the corners (on the floor) of your pantry. The mice will eat them and also take it back to the "nest". It will kill them all. Also, DonnaNY's plan of getting a cat would work. Although cats have varied personalities, just like people, and I've know them to make friends with the critters. LOL!

Sue, I think we are all going to have to learn how to slow down and stay closer to home. Because, the more I read, the more I'm coming to realize that this is not going to be a "few weeks" thing. I have even heard it mentioned by experts that this may last a year to 18 months! If so, our entire lives will have changed by the end of it. At least the Climate Change people are dancing in the streets, (if they're allowed to), because most industries have closed, hardly any cars, most aircraft shut down, the oil industry pretty much slowed to a crawl, as no-one needs much of it anymore. That should clear the air a bit. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes, right? Nothing is happening that God doesn't know about, and He has control of the reins here.

Everyone stay positive! We'll get through this.

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Congratulations on the Mouse Catch!! I have seen no signs of mice in this house, I worry because we have an outside entrance in the basement. Just another place for the critters to sneak in. But, when we opened a box from the other house, it was apparent that mice had destroyed the contents. That's when D fessed up and said he had found evidence of mice from time to to in the basement of the old house. Nice he bothered to tell me. Meanwhile the contents of this box were destroy and all was sent to the dump.

Temperatures are like a roller coaster here in MD. 50, 70, 81, 40 , up and down.
No wonder we are all sick and it has nothing to do with the Virus. Add to that, this warm weather has all the flowering plants bursting with pollen. Everyone is cough, hacking, sneezing, watery eyes, and NO fevers, it's just all from pollen.

I get cabin fever if I'm stuck in the house too long. And I also get very tired of walking the same blocks day after day. I like variety and scenery. So I've been trying to get our for an car drive every afternoon. Sometimes we stop to walk some place new, or just stop at the store to pick up bread and milk. Anything to get out of the house.

Grandson TJ, who's in a nearby college, has returned home since the college has such down. He will finish his classes online. He made calls the other day for possible part time jobs to fill his spare time and bring in some much needed gas money. He had a phone interview yesterday and starts training today at a FEDEX Trucking terminal, he will work 4am-8am in package processing. He makes premium pay for the early work shift. He and several of his other college friends lucked out on this one. He will have time to work, sleep and keep up with his studies. Oh yah, he has to work a girlfriend into that schedule. Good luck.

We feel fortunate to be in good health, have plenty of food and supplies on hand and a warm, comfortable home. Now it's just sit and stay out of germs way. I hope all of you can do the same. - s

My claim to fame is that I caught one mouse this morning in one sticky trap! I apologized to him/her, put on gloves, and triple bagged it, threw it out under the farthest tree from the house and trash day is tomorrow. I hope if there are more, I will catch them, too. The pest control guy comes tomorrow.

I took a brief walk again last night. When I got to my halfway mark, my 2 neighbors were sitting in chairs on their driveway, and another neighbor walked across the street after getting his mail. We were all many feet apart! Then another couple came up on their golf cart. People were out walking and riding bikes. It rained a bunch already this morning so I'm hoping it will wash away some of the pollen that has been plaguing everyone for a couple of weeks now.

DonnaNY, I hope your grands will be able to come and go, get things done, etc. This is certainly a time to try to do things differently!

Good morning. Life in our house seems to be settling down, and if I can get DH to turn off the TV we'd be just about our normal life, of course we are retired and have a very quiet life normally. Do miss quilt and book club, but have been keeping connected with computer.
Mary, Living in a rural area surrounded with trees and fields we regularly have mice visit us, and if you have one, you have 3 for sure! I don't know if you can do this but what works best for us is a cat! Our Loretta loves to mouse hunt and she's very good at it. Every couple months she brings us a gift or two and we are set for awhile. I find it harder to keep ants out in the spring, but have something called Turo that works very good, it's just realizing I have ants!
Pam, Know what you mean about touching our faces. I never realized how many times I rub my eyes, or itch my face! I am trying to stop this habit and just yesterday may have turned a corner when at least now I catch myself most of the time. How far is your daughter from the hospital she will deliver in? I wonder if she calls her dr if they can make a plan to help out. Of course babies don't seem to care about anyone's plan. I am guessing 911 still works in an emergency.
Donna Az The GK's only use the computer for about 40 min each. Only one comes at a time, however, DD and son in law who is a nurse have decided that we will have more distance between us so now the plan is if they need more power than they can get with their systems, they'll come and sit on our front porch with their devices. My computer is on the other side of the wall with a big picture window so we'll be separated. Weird, but workable.
Hope everyone gets to laugh about something today!

I hope the cable issues can be easily resolved, Donna. TMobile is giving extra data/time so I wonder if your provider will, too.

I decided to have oatmeal for breakfast. I went in the pantry and picked up some instant mashed potatoes to move out of the way. Potatoes went everywhere. I looked closer and found that some of my dry goods, some of the treats I keep for the grandchildren, etc. had been gnawed through. I have either rats or mice!!! I freaked out. When will all this STUFF stop?? I put on 'real clothes' and went to Home Depot to get baits and took everything out of the pantry. My pest control guy can't come until Saturday at noon. I'm doing my best but my best certainly doesn't seem to be working!!

I just went out for the first time in 2 weeks. My goodness it's quiet out there! However, there was lots of stuff in the shops at the drug store, grocery store, etc. I've always joked with Becky that if I get the virus, she would have to be the one who gave it to me. Then, when I came out of the bank after collecting some cash at the ATM, I sat down in the car, and automatically licked my finger to count it! Becky chuckled and said "now if you get it, you can't blame me!" emoticon

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Kerry: Good luck with the roof. Now I remember you had that bad storm and missed an activity and someone else didn't really believe you.

Pam: Best of luck with the labor and delivery of your grandchild. I hope it all works out without any rush rush driving. You are right, most first babies are slow to come out.

Donna NY: That is a lot to have your grands doing their schoolwork from your house. Yes, people are panicking about food. This is a time when I am glad I live outside a big city.

I decided to crochet a shawl for my little lady so went to Hobby Lobby when they opened. I was the only customer in the store so I don't feel I was at risk. Then I had to pick up prescriptions at Walmart and again I was the only customer in Prescriptions. I immediately use hand sanitizer in the car and smear it on the steering wheel and then wash my hands when I get in the house. Now I am home for the rest of the day.

We got about an inch of snow but it is melting off very fast and making everything muddy.

Good morning ladies!

This whole "staying in" thing was a novelty at first, but those who are used to going out, being out, and are extroverts, are going to tire of this very quickly. Fortunately for me, DonnaNY, I'm totally happy to be at home, and have lots to do. However, I fear that there are going to be a lot of "deserters" as time goes by. It's going to be so hard to keep people in!

Becky started working from home today. She said she's finding it very strange, but since most of her work is web-based, she'll adapt She has a whole office with 3 computers in it anyway, so she's set. LOL!

I read that this "quarantine" period may go on for weeks at the very LEAST, which is making me wonder how Leah is going to fare when she goes into labour. She is almost 36 weeks now. If James is in Whitby when she starts labour, Becky and I will have to drive to Woodstock, pick her up and get her back to London, as her OB/GYN is at one of the London hospitals! Hopefully, being her first, things won't move too quickly. Now the hospitals are saying only one visitor at a time. So we will wait and see. I'm just hoping James will be around when the time comes, or there might be some fast driving involved here. LOL!

Everyone have a good day!

God bless,
