Our church had Virtual VBS this past week. I saw some video from it. Pretty cool.

Rita, I wasn't able to see your hat picture but I read your blog on Facebook! I grew up with Hormel tamales, too! In fact, we didn't even know it was 'Mexican food' until there was one Mexican restaurant in town!! Loved the scarves your friends have given you, too!

Sue, I have a Honda CR-V and love it. I got it 3 weeks before Dave died and had only driven it maybe twice by then. I had to learn about it all on my own. I would buy another one in a heartbeat...or maybe a Pilot because that would hold 2 booster seats and a carseat. My CR-V doesn't do that. Good luck hunting.

Lois, wow, that's a lot of exercise! I made a list today of all the good food I have for breakfast, lunch, and supper that's fresh right now. I will check off as I eat. I know I should be logging here but for some reason I balk! At least this way I won't be throwing away 'science projects' and wasting money! I know you are on the right track.

Kerry, do you think Larry is sick? I wonder why he sleeps so much, although sleep often eludes me!! I hope you'll have a good time with the little girls. I will have Cherilyn's 3 with me tomorrow afternoon while she makes a video for her church. It will be a virtual VBS, I think!

Donna, I hope that things will fall into place and that you will be able to close when it works best for you. Fun times ahead!!

The best you can do is enough. We had a lot of fireworks last night but couldn't actually see them. The rain didn't help. This week Larry has doctor appointments. I never get a full answer to my questions but I do know he sleeps more than ever.
Have a great week. I get to help take Trish and kids to doctor appointments Tuesday and Wednesday😃

Oh Rita: I can just see you in your colorful hats! It is so you and I am glad you found something you enjoy while covering your thinning hair.

Lois: Ditto here for the 4th and eating and exercising. SIGH Oh well, every day is a new beginning.

Sue: I went to see our small town fireworks and left the TV on for the dogs to muffle the outside booms. When I got home they were just starting the Macy's fireworks. Very impressive.

It's a beautiful cool morning and I am on the patio enjoying watching the sprinklers go off. ha ha I am easy to please. Swimming at10 am then pack , pack, pack.
If Boise goes back to phase 2 that means my SIL won't be working again. Soooooo, if that stays in place 30 days and we could move the escrow date up, maybe I could get out of here in July! ( Wishful thinking) pack pack, pack.

OMgosh....LOL....yes, Mary you are right. I meant to say minutes. I do the SP 5% challenge. I walked and exercised a total of 150 minutes yesterday. Was a beautiful walking day in our park next door. I started tracking my food intake (which is always an eye opener). I did so well during the day.....then, fell apart in the evening...again! Sadly, I had too many red-light foods in the kitchen and I became human vacuum cleaner. Did I need them?? NO! Was I hungry? NO! Was I bored? Likely...Grrrr
What a big disappointment to myself. I burned so many calories and ate way too many to make a difference. Sigh......so, pick myself up, dust myself off and hit it again today trying not to make the same mistake.

Rita, we have one resident here that wears hats daily. She frequently dons a sparkly beret. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen her without her berets. They look so sweet on her. It's part of her identity.

Well, time to either go for my first walk or turn on exercise video....hmmm, or maybe just sit here for a while and do nothing. Hope you all have a great day.

Had a nice 4th. Nothing terribly exciting but pleasant day. Did some house work and laundry in the morning. It wasn’t nearly as hot today, only 85-90. We ventured out to look at a couple new cars. Trying to drive a few before i make a decision. Today was a Toyota and a Honda CRV. More to look at. I’ll pass my current car to my son, his car will go to grand-daughter. Musical cars.

Our neighborhood had a social-distanced picnic on the lawn in front of our “closed” clubhouse. It was very nice, pre-ordered submarine sandwiches, bring your own drinks, nice people, lots of laughs, plenty of room to spread out and lots of masks. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen many of these people. Then home to watch the Capitol 4th and the Macy’s Fireworks shows on TV. Now we’re are hearing fireworks popping off all around us, some pretty fancy stuff. Fun to watch, but I pray for everyone’s safety.

Rita, I’m glad you are enjoying your new hats. If they life your spirits, malt you fell pretty, put a smile on your face, then go for it and have fun dressing yourself up. What a sweet thing for your husband to get you, a yard loveseat is perfect.

Tonight we found out another one of our trips has canceled due to COVID. Re-scheduled for same time next year. Nothing we can do about it, better safe than sorry.

Well it’s been a busy day, time to hit the sack. See you all in the morning.

IMG_0565.jpg. Here’s my new look! My friend gave me 4 of these hats in gorgeous colors. With my thinning hair I prefer this look. At least I can choose earrings to compliment. I finally got my post about tamales written. We'll do a taste test tonight with the Qdoba family taco bar and I can finish up the story. I love it when a post comes together! It’s hot here too. Rex bought us a cute little loveseat as a surprise so we could sit together outside. We’ve been outside but when I stepped inside it was too cool with the swamp cooler to go back outside. Yesterday was my first outing, not being a hospital. I rode a mobility cart at our newest grocery store. The store was empty and wide open. My cataracts bother me though when I walk or go places. I guess I’ll have to consider them next. Does that make sense with the cancer? Depending on how long I’ll be around I would like to see!! Happy 4th everyone!!!

My mistake! I was looking at it from the 'wrong end,' Donna! You wouldn't be present at your old house's inspection. Sorry! I still hope all will be fine.

Mary: As the seller I was not present for the inspection. The buyer was here with her realtor. I have to wait for the results. .............and wait........and wait. I have put together all the boxes I have left and will start filling them today.

Lois: I know it is so isolating but the alternative is so much worse. Hope you get to see some fireworks or something.

Happy Independence Day, Sparklers!! No matter what your plans are, I hope everyone enjoys the day. We need peace for our country. No matter what, it's the best and only place I want to be.

Donna, my inspector gave me a brief run-through as soon as he finished the inspection, followed by a big written report. I knew right away that (haha, looking back, what a joke!) there were no huge issues at the time and my realtor helped make suggestions for the owner as to what I wanted done. I asked that the kitchen and bathroom drawers that were BRAND NEW be fixed! Three were off the track and fell down as soon as I pulled them open! She did fix that and I bought the house. At my old one, the new people wanted paperwork about the one foundation fix and assurance from the AC people that the heater was retrofitted to work in conjunction with the new AC. I provided all paperwork, gave them business cards from every company I used, etc. It all worked out. I sure hope yours will, too! Now for the packing!! Any more leads on houses in Boise?

Lois, wow! You have done such a great job already and have great ambitions...but I think you mean 120 fitness minutes a day, lol?? Not hours? If so, please tell me your secret. We could all use more hours, I'm sure! Is your challenge a Spark challenge? I have not had snacks except fruit all week. I've cut back to one glass of wine rather than 2....and on some days, none! I know we'll all be waiting to hear of your continued success.

I washed 2 loads of clothes last night and will do my towels tomorrow. So far I don't see running water down the street so I hope the leak is a slow one. If Sprouts is open I will do a quick milk and fresh fruit run. I will join a few neighbors on driveways as we watch our golf cart/bike parade.

Morning Gals
Sounding like "heat" emoticon emoticon is the common thread among most of the states. It's a scorcher around here as well....with a pop up thundershower here and there.
Even my emails have gotten shorter with not much new happening to write about.
Today is my first day of the 5% challenge lasting 8 weeks. I've done many in the past. The first ones I was determined and saw successes each time. After our move everything changed.....food prep being a biggie and desserts introduced daily....groan. I KNOW! "Just say no". Easy to say....much harder to do. My walking has def increased in last 7 days to about 7 miles/day. That may sound impressive....but, it doesn't quite offset those snacking calories I consume in the evenings. That is my biggest hurdle. My goal is to obtain 120 hours of exercise each day either by walking and/or other forms of exercise.
Have a nice 4th....whether it is quiet or not. Ours def will be quiet.

Mary: The inspection isn't instantaneous. I would have got the results in about 24 hours but since it is a holiday weekend it will be Monday before I know anything. I am trying to chill out for the weekend and just go with the flow..
Sorry about they water issue. Sure hope you are not being charged for the water being lost.

Donna, how was the inspection? Did you pass? Rest up and enjoy a quiet, packing weekend!

Well, here we go again....but I hope not! I was putting out the flags at my house first and put my foot on the grass. I sunk. There was water just starting to seep down the curb....so I raced inside and called the water dept. They were to call me right back but after 45 minutes I hadn't heard from anyone. I called again and was told that someone was on the way. As soon as I stepped back outside and grabbed more flags, here comes a water dept. guy! He said it's THEIR problem, not mine, thank goodness!! They probably can't come until Tuesday and I might lose water pressure so I'm going to wash one load of clothes in a minute and try not to use too much water over the weekend!!

We finally got our rain and the temps dropped 15 degrees. It was a welcome change except that I had to keep the dogs out of the house that whole time. We went hiking for 30 minutes and it thundered a bit but the clouds didn't let loose until I closed the car door and drove away. Good timing.
I am home from work and sooooo glad. The house is finally mine. I intend to start making boxes and packing and making messes. No one will be coming so the house is mine.

What are your plans for the 4th? Mine are quiet. I will swim laps in the morning and watch the fireworks in the evening. I did buy corn on the cob( a special thing for me) and might consider making dip for my chips.

One less 'work worry,' Donna. Do you only have a couple of weeks left with the elderly couple, too? I htink today is your inspection. I hope it goes well. Try not to stress. Swim and enjoy the day. Wow, cool enough to leave the windows open? Not only was it 96 yesterday, but the Sahara dust makes everything hazy so even walking outside early morning or late at night is tough on breathing.

I will set out our flags for the 4th later today. We have such an active group of 'helpers' on my street. No one is planning on going to the 'celebration' tomorrow night that I know of, but we will sit in our driveways and watch the parade.

TGIF...

Rita: Good to hear from you. I know your life isn't what you planned but it sure sounds busy and full of people who love you!!

Kerry: Glad the doors are finally in now.

Sue: Summer has arrived for the NE I guess. We are still cooling down at night and so all the doors and windows are open.

Mary: It's hard to keep up with the newest edicts as to what is and isn't allowed. Here too.

Pam: I like hearing about your , how did you say it?, trivial stuff? Otherwise I have this picture of you sitting in your sewing room for hours on end and never seeing or talking to anyone. Glad you got out and about the town.

My redneck republican that I gave 2 weeks notice to told me today he is going out of town next week so I don't have to go back and care for him. I am just fine with that.
I am getting better at swimming in the huge lap pool. The first time I swam a lap I thought I was going to drown twice. ha ha Today I swam 25 minutes non stop and did great. Then I took a power nap. Retirement is great.

I plan on swimming as soon as the pool opens on the 4th, 8 am I think it is, so that will be refreshing. No other plans. I might go to the club house up on the hill in the parking lot to watch the fireworks that night.

Sue, Houston is at 95 with high humidity! Hope your heat wave is better soon! I’m so glad you had a good mother/daughter day. Those are special and rare! We’re having a golf cart parade followed by an outdoor venue of music...no food, but BYOB. Plenty of space to be distant. Oops, the governor just now said no groups over 10, even outdoors so I guess there goes the gathering on the 4th and Happy Hour!

Pam, it’s hard to know there are many places available but out of reach. Isn’t there another small town nearby? Maybe better prices a short distance away? It’s hard to live in someone else’s home even in the best of circumstances!

I have another Zoom call tonight. I will have leftovers for an early dinner.

Sue, we're having a heat wave too, but today there is almost no humidity. I was pleasantly surprised when I went outside. The heat actually felt good! (for a little while, anyway. LOL)

We drove around and had a tour of the latest luxury buildings in London. Honestly, there is a dreadful affordable housing shortage in this city, but the building trade just keeps on building new luxury neighbourhoods filled with luxury homes and luxury apartments, condos, etc. All fascinating to look at, but too expensive to live in (for some, anyway). London has an extraordinarily high number of rich people. I have no idea why. Well, maybe some - we have those 3 hospitals I told you about, plus a massive university complex. I guess we have lots of highly paid people around here, as well as the fact that people from Toronto are moving in here now because Toronto is just getting ridiculously expensive. Apparently London is the only city in Canada that has not had a construction bust because of COVID. Rents are dropping everywhere else, but not here. Anyway, we stopped off at Dairy Queen and Becky had a blizzard and I had a chocolate sundae (of course).

That's an awful of details from me that you probably are totally uninterested in. LOL! But hey....

Good afternoon Ladies. I hope you are all keeping cool. The NE is getting hammered in a heatwave. It’s currently 94 in the shade. Rains due to roll through tomorrow. Let’s hope.

Rita , it’s great to hear from you. Such a wonderful collection of friends you have, all working together to show their live and concern and helping to keep your spirits up. You have good friends!

Went shopping with my daughter this morning, first girl-time we have shared in a very long while. Followed all the COVID-19 rules and regulations. Purchased. Very little but it was nice to be out walking around and window shopping.

No big 4th of July plans. Our small community is going to attempt a “social distance “ picnic on the lawn in front of our “closed” clubhouse. To help local small businesses, Subs have been ordered from a local deli, no home cooking necessary. It will be nice to have a short meet & greet with our neighbors, we have all done a good job staying isolated. Then it will back to my cool house to watch the Capitol 4th on tv. Hope you all have a safe holiday.

Rita, it's wonderful to 'hear' your voice! I'm thrilled that you are having so many visits...and after they wear you out, you're sleeping well! It's great that you are able to keep up with all of this. I'm very happy that you are getting at home help. It sounds like they are taking very good care of you! I don't really care for anything Kale, but if you liked it, hooray! I love spinach, artichoke, and feta so I'm sure I'd love that dip, too. Any time it's 5:00 somewhere, so indulge your sweet self when the urge hits! So far, I'm thrilled with my 'old me' shorter hair. I hope your scarves will be enhancements for you and your beautiful smile!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, Pam. I know it's been very hard on the new widows in both my groups, not able to have the kind of funerals/celebrations of life that they wanted, as well as all the easy visitations. Hugs to her through you! Cherilyn's mother in law got back with me and was very gracious. I'm not the only one to cancel. Her husband has diabetes and other underlying health issues...they may cancel at the last minute. They did that a few years ago when we had torrential downpours on the 4th. They have a nice pool but a very small patio.

Kerry, it's good to hear from you! Sorry the new windows and doors didn't get put in like you'd hoped. I am getting a new back door from the kitchen to the garage soon...I hope! I called yesterday and they didn't have it in stock yet. Maybe next week. Will Aaliyah be in pre-K or kindergarten? I can't remember exactly how old she is!

I got out and walked this morning. 48 minutes divided by several stops to visit with neighbors, but that was nice, too! I was SO hot and sweaty when I got home. It was 84 at 8:30 and is 91 right now. Heat index is over 100!

Hello. It sounds like everyone is doing well. We just finished passing inspection of our new inside doors. The first night we headed to bed and realized that door wasn't done so we slept without doors and windows. It's all inspected now.
I am missing them but Larry isn't. I haven't heard if Aaliyah has even been assigned a seat in the school system.

What a mess it is😞

Rita, you wait until 5:00? My goodness, I always used to say "the sun is over the yardarm somewhere on the planet" That meant noon. LOL! But then I'm a wino, so it doesn't take much for me to say "time for a wine!" emoticon

I just got an email from a friend in England. Her husband passed away in March, followed immediately by the lockdown. She is so lonely. She couldn't organize a funeral, had to attempt to do everything online, and she's not really very computer literate. Her sons have stayed away because their wives are terrified of giving or picking up the virus. I felt so sorry for her. I wish I was rich enough to just buy a ticket to England and help her out. (if planes are still flying that is - not sure if they are or not). But, since I have no spare cash, I guess it isn't happening anyway.

Mary, you are smart with not attending the in-law's big "do". The virus is still out there, just waiting for people to start congregating again. We've been lucky here in London, ON. We had lockdown quite early, and people were pretty good at following it. Our Covid numbers were very low. We have 3 major teaching hospitals here and they weren't overwhelmed at all. But now that the weather has blossomed into summer, and the city has loosened the lockdown somewhat, the numbers are rising again. People may have locked down. The virus didn't. It was just waiting for an occasion to start again...sigh.

Quiet day for me today. I'll spend the afternoon in the sewing room creating - something - not sure what yet.

Everyone have a great day.

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Good Morning one and all! Always so nice to find you here! My chatty care-giver just left. She wakes me up at 7 a.m. for pills and then is here till 9 a.m. If I try to sleep in she still gets me up at 8:00 I think I'm here as much for her as she is for me. The stories I've heard!

Yesterday my TOPS ladies came by. I was amazed as there were 19 that came out out of our usual meeting size of around 23. It was a wonderful time and the first time the club was able to get together since things were closed down. The weather was so gorgeous we sat outside in my nice shady backyard. I was so happy to have tables and chairs for everyone. My friend from Steamboat was here to help. Most brought their lunches to nibble after the meeting.I had no idea what to expect except they wanted to come see me! Then in the evening my rosary group of 6 were here. Another fun time. At least I get energized by my visiting friends....and I sleep well!

My hair is really getting thin and coming out gently. I wore a scarf yesterday with big gypsy earrings! A new look. One friend brought me a gift bag with absolutely gorgeous scarves in it. After the CNA's help with my shower today I'll try them on. At this rate thin hair isn't bad at all!

Lois, your gifts are amazing! How blessed is your family!

My addiction to artichoke, spinach, feta dip from Target continues! My body must be screaming for something in it.I don't even need something to dip in it! I do a few chips or crackers but spoonfuls are good too. I am so happy my DH is willing to fix me up when I am craving it.

Pam, how wonderful that you and Ainsley could be together. I sure hope everyone gets and stays well!

Mary, my hair has been through so many different styles! Once my hairdresser retired I was in a heap of trouble. Now with pretty scarves I am just fine and dandy.

Donna, don't worry about the tight pants. Once all is settled, it will be cooler weather and you'll have even more energy and the excitement of settling in. Enjoy the new transforming you!

Last evening one of my friends, a doctor, brought a whole blender full of kale smoothies. I had never had the guts to try one before. She said pineapple hides the taste every time. So, with that and beets and don't know what all we had glasses of he green stuff. I was surprised at how good it was! It still wouldn't be likely as my first choice in a smoothie shop but now I'm not as afraid of the green drink.

It's 9:30 and I'm still sitting around in my nightgown and robe since the CNA doesn't come for my shower til around 10:00. This is so not my style. Taking it this easy must be agreeing with me as my blood pressure is low and people say how good I look. haha I've never been this laid back in years! Maybe this forced quarantine isn't such a bad thing after all! RN comes at 1:00 and my best friend will be here a little later. If I can get my blog post written I'll be really happy today!

Is it too early to say cheers with a jalapeno margarita? It's got to be 5:00 some where!

Good morning, friends! I meant to set the sprinklers to go off...I was thinking today was Wednesday even though yesterday was trash day. I just get SO off on the days of the week now!! Once again, I have no plans! I sent Cherilyn's mother in law a message that I won't be joining them this year for their 4th of July party. She has a pool and a very small patio and they invite SO many people. We now have 2 active cases of the virus in my over 55 community and I think mixing and mingling with a bunch of their friends whom I only see once a year isn't a good idea.

Pam, I know what you're talking about....the blanket that has a couple of arches with interesting things hanging off it to amuse the baby! I'm glad you were able to help Leah. Being sick with a small baby is awful. I sure hope she will be better soon. Is her husband on a crazy shift time or will he be able to help her?

Hope all of you have a great day!

A lot of popping and banging going on out there. People must be throwing house parties and doing fireworks because the city has cancelled all theirs.

I got to Leah's and the poor girl was so sick, lying on the couch with her arm hanging over pushing Ainsley's bouncy chair trying to keep her happy. I gave her the meds, sent her upstairs to sleep and had Ainsley to myself for 5 hours! (the gravol I gave her was very strong, enough to knock her out and give her a good sleep, as well as get rid of the nausea. That little girl is so precious. She chatted and chuntered and then I changed her and fed her and she had a little nap, followed by a long play time under an overhanging play toy thing - God knows what it's called. She was struck by the "mirror" hanging above her and couldn't look away from her reflection. Heaven knows what she was thinking.

Donna, that wasn't a dress Ainsley had on (it looked like it tho). It was a romper with a skirt around it. On an adult you'd call it a skort. LOL!

Pat it looks like Decklan is having a ball being with his Grandma, but I'll bet you are one tired cookie about now. Talking about cookies, I think I'll make some peanut butter cookies tomorrow. Hopefully I won't eat them all in one sitting. That's the trouble with living with someone else. You make these things for them, and end up eating most of them yourself. Especially as this recipe makes more than 5 dozen! emoticon

Anyway, I'm off to facebook. Catch ya later!

Pam: I never said how cute that dress is. I love seeing little girls in something besides pink. I had 2 girls 16 months apart and was sick of pink. I'm glad you can go help Leah and you get to play with Ainsley. Win win for you.

I just played 30 minutes of PB. I wasn't at my best but it was fun non the less and good exercise. My pants are getting tight because my eating is OUT OF CONTROL!
No more stress excuses. I HAVE to start tracking again AND get back to getting exercise. I gave notice on my morning job so I can play ball more often after next week. And I'd better suck it up and get back on the scale and face the music.

Lois, wow, what a crafty couple. You two can be proud of all you have done.

Wow, Lois, I'm really impressed with all the hard work and 'Pinterest' type gifts you made! My husband loved woodworking. He made me a huge rolling cart with an easel when I moved to a brand new school that was being built and we were in temporary buildings with 4 walls and a blackboard...no storage! Two of my kids are teachers and they used it, too. He made book cases and shelves...was a Jack (Dave!) of all trades! Everclear is some sort of clear alcohol. I only had it that one time and yes, it was one of the 'put everything in a new trash can and mix' type thing. But I didn't know anything about those kinds of things and just accepted the 'punch' that my date brought me! Now I limit myself to wine!!

I have some potatoes that I've just peeled and cooked for a potato casserole before they go bad. I put the peel in the trash BEFORE the trash is picked up...I usually end up doing that kind of thing lat3e in the day. Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf?!

Wow Lois! You two really are "handy" people. I love that scrabble board!

Just got a text from Leah. James is in Whitby doing fire duty today and she is sick with a tummy bug/food poisoning. So I'll drive to Woodstock shortly with some remedies and let her try and sleep it off while I tend to Ainsley. Typical thing to happen on a national holiday when absolutely everything is shut!

Have a good day.

God bless,

Mary....thanks for reminding me the name of the TV show....Walking Dead. Never watched it but sure seemed popular. I don't think that was the name of the town though. Maybe it will come to me. And, your frat party you attended? Never heard of Everclear. But, back in my day.....I do remember parties where everyone bring a bottle and all gets dumped into a garbage pail (new, of course) mixed with punch. Wowzer! This sounds similar. I'm not much of a drinker either.....guess that's why that Long Island Tea hit me so hard.....LOL.

Rita.....no I don't blog.....too busy keeping my own daily diary (to vent), and writing to those grands. I will look yours up.

Donna....I have often wondered if something were to happen to my DH am I better off staying here in this independent facility or move. I have no health issues and can almost blend in with the staff. The average age here is maybe 85. I do love our condo. Only 3 miles from DD and anything I want is practically within walking distance....grocery, Ace, library, parks, restaurants, bank. And, I feel safe here. Sounding like I need to stay, doesn't it. emoticon

Good luck with your hunt. Are you searching in Boise on line already? Seems that is the way many buyers do these days. I had a brief .....and, I mean very short-lived career many years ago in real estate....back in the day where you drove clients around home after home and sat for hours every Saturday in open houses. Now, my daughter is in real estate in Charlotte and things are so much different with less road travel due to computers.

Pam, although I haven't sewn clothes for the grands. I do have this creative side of me I like to tap into so we have made lots of things for our kids. I mentioned to you DH loves his tools. He also is creative with building ideas.....or, replicating something we have seen on Pinterest. One Christmas we decided instead of buying items for the family....we would build things for them ie; wooden ottoman serving tray, step ladder bedside tables, step stool, dress up wardrobe (with dress up aprons I made), picnic table, art table and a ring toss game to name a few.

The scrabble board we made for our DD to put in their new rental beach home in FL. We made it out of an office conference room white board. It's HUGE!

Pam, that's so sweet of you! Yes, Jack is home now and feeling much better. They weren't able to in through his wrist as planned because things were blocked so much so they went in through his groin...a harder procedure. The doctor told his wife Linda that Jack owes her big time because if he had a heart attack he would have died immediately...I guess the 'Widow Maker' was the worst one clogged. He's 82 with diabetes, gout, and has had a quadruple bypass in his 50's. He's crotchety but fun in his own way and no one wants him to 'go' yet! This was a heart cauterization.

Donna, yes, it didn't take much of anything...still doesn't! Since I had no idea what alcohol really was, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I couldn't taste it at all. I'm still friends with the 'boy' though, through FB. He and my husband were good friends in grade school and high school!

I got a facial and a haircut yesterday. My hair is now short again. It feels so much better and once I get the 'frou-frou' style out, I will sort of be 'me' again. I asked my stylist what I could do about my triple chin and saggy jowls....and she handed me my mask, lol!! I grew my hair out for a year, got all the layers down to 2, and couldn't stand it. No style! So I'm back to what works for me most of the time! It was 82 at 6am this morning! It's going to feel like 100 most of the day and the Sahara Sands are supposed to be really bad.

Mary: You are a cheap date! ha ha

I have had a Long Island Ice Tea once too and was not able to drive the rest of the trip after that. LOL It sounds so innocent.

My car didn't cost me anything to get fixed thank goodness. It was a quick fix. I finally got all the information for getting prequalified for a loan in ID and filled out the application online and when I went to scan or copy all the million documents they wanted my copier broke. Wouldn't you know. I was able to use a friends. Since I had 60 pages left to copy I paid her for the ink and left a quarter of a ream of paper there for her. I managed to get it all done and mailed it registered mail. When I called the broker and told him someone needs to sign for it Friday he said they are closed Friday for the holiday............ I guess the mailman will try again Monday. So much for being efficient.
Rita: You are a much more courageous lady than me. Jalapeno Margarita's???? Ugh! never.
Lois: Can't remember what you asked me about moving. I am moving to the Boise area because it is green and my DD and family live there. I will move in with them until I buy a house for myself. I expect to get a job and join a pickle ball group and volunteer there. That should keep me busy. Apparently my house sold fast and for listing price because the inventory is so low there isn't much to choose from. I'll take it.

Rita, there was a Papa Murphy's pizza next door to my gym near my old house and I picked a couple up there. Very good pizza! I laughed because one time my trainer was leaving the gym just as I exited Papa Murphy. CAUGHT!!

Lois, I have had Long Island Iced Tea once and wow, does it catch you off guard! My parents didn't drink and I didn't either...my first blind date in college was to a Sig Ep fraternity party/dance. My date was quite the gentleman and kept bringing me 'punch' because the hall they had rented was big and hot. Well, after the 3rd punch I stood up to dance and the world turned!! It was Everclear! I had no idea what that was and my sorority had 'dry pledge.' That didn't bother me at all since I didn't drink and was 'too young' anyway. Well, I thought I would be in bigtime trouble so I went up to one of the older girls and told on myself! She told me I was nuts and to just go sit down! I didn't drink on purpose until I turned 21, lol! And never Everclear again!Funniest thing is that my date and I triple dated with....my eventual husband! When he asked me out he remembered that night...I didn't!!

Pam, Ainsley's dress is adorable as is she!!! What fun to be sewing for such a little doll!.I sewed quite a bit for my oldest dgtr but not for her sister or brothers. Guess by then I was too busy to sew!

Lois, I've never had a Long Island Ice Tea but I do hear they hit hard. Someday maybe I'll have to at least have a sip. Right now that jalapeno margarita is all I want...haha. Sue said you like to write. Do you have a blog? I have my RoamingRita.blogspot.com I have so many posts I want to put up but life has been full of people coming by to visit. Maybe little by little I'll get things written!

DH just got home with Papa Murphy's pizza and pieces of rhubarb cake that they saved us from church so eating dinner is to be soon! More later!

I hope the inspection goes well, Donna. It won't be long now! You've put forth such a great effort in a very short period of time. Now for the good stuff! Any more pictures of houses that you might like in Idaho?

Pam, my daughter isn't picky at all about the clothes her girls wear...she has a fabulous neighbor who gives her all the clothes her granddaughters outgrow. Many have tags on them or are fancy and not practical. But they're free!! I'm sure your outfits for Ainsley are precious. I do remember sewing for all my kids and they grew so fast. I loved my Stretch and Sew patterns for them and for me!

Lois, yes, my sister took me to that down. McDonough? Not sure! We saw the deserted old buildings where they filmed and went through some of hte shops. We ate at the 'famous' restaurant where the movie big-wigs ate, too. It was delicious! Walking Dead was the show, I think? I'm not sure where Griffin is, exactly. They are in a Del Webb Sun City community.

I got my hair cut short again. Sadly, I don't have the face I had 2 years ago when I last had it short...I asked Susan what we could do about my double chin and jowls and she handed me my mask, lol!! Oh, well, it will at least be easy to fix once again. It had no style when it had grown out.

Good morning ladies. (almost afternoon now)

I awoke to the house shaking this morning. Not impressed. The construction crews have started on the street, and they were a half block away! I dread to think what it's going to feel like when they're right outside the house. Time to remove breakables from the shelves, coz I think there's gonna be a whole lotta shakin goin on! LOL!

Lois, my daughter loves it when I make clothes for Ainsley. They are "originals", well-made with good materials. I guess the other grandma gave her a whole bag of clothes she had ordered for Ainsley from newborn size to age 2. It was a "from China" purchase. Some of the stuff was really cute. But most of it was really cheap and nasty. A couple of the items were dry-clean only! Leah looked at it and said "yeah - she'll only be in that thing once" LOL

Well, Becky is asking for my help. Chat later!

God bless,

Morning Gals
Mary: I did see the movie Poms. There were some really funny lines in the movie. I hear many movies are filmed around this area. There was some TV show creepy show....something about zombies,(the night of the living dead?) We drove to that little town where it is filmed. They fenced in an entire neighborhood just for this show. Main street was only 3 blocks long.....tiny town....most of the stores were antique shops or souvenir shops related to that show. But, Griffin? Not heard of it. We've only lived in GA 2 years and don't drive more than 10 mile radius. We do take bus trips here, or should I say we used to take which I enjoyed learning about this area and not have to drive in this crazy congested mess.
Rita....I can't imagine drinking Jalapeno margarita....it sounds HOT, but you said not too spicy....hmmm. That reminds me of a time long ago when a college age nephew came to visit us in Florida. After a hot walk outdoors he asked if I wanted to go have a drink and if I would like to try a Long Island Iced Tea. Being hot and thirsty I said, sure!! Expecting it to quench my dry mouth....LOL....my legs went to jelly after I finished. Drink names can be SO deceiving....LOL. Of course, I HAD to pull the same joke on my girlfriend later that came for a visit.

Pam I love the fact you are making outfits for Ainsley. My DD is so picky about what her daughter wears I have never attempted to make or even buy anything for her to wear......so sad.....but, I also remember how many times my mother-in-law would buy clothes for our girls only to have them sit in the closet with tags still on them as it was not their style. I vowed I would not repeat that mistake.
Donna....so you are moving to a new city. This sounds all too familiar. We wanted to come closer to the family but didn't want to leave our beloved city in SC. However, like I told my DH...time to turn the page into the next chapter of life. I must say it has turned out better than expected. I have many more friends here in the two short years than the 20 years living in SC. Do you have plans to buy another home? Or, are you considering a senior facility? My brother retired out of San Francisco and knew they could not afford living the remainder year there. That's when they tried Prescott and that didn't work out for them. Onward to Eagle Point, OR just over the CA border. Found just the right spot.

We went to Walmart for the first time since February yesterday. Nearly all had masks on and everyone did keep their distance. I felt safe. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Good Morning: I can't believe it is cold here. I am sitting on the patio at 6 am with long pants and a sweater on and I am still chilled. Crazy weather this year.

I am giving my 2 weeks notice on my second job today. I need more time to figure out what needs to be done and do it all.

Today I work from 8-10, then at 1015 I have an appliance repairman come and fix a gas burner that won't light. At 1 I have to take my car in because my left front wheel is hitting the wheel well when I turn right. HOpe it isn't expensive. Thati's enough for day.

THe home inspection is Friday. My realtor was surprised I agreed to the time but it works for me and this is the last scary hurdle. I told him to just rip the bandaid off and get it done. After that bad news I'll be home free. At least I can put the soap dispensers back on the counters and the electric toothbrush. I am learning how to live with less and you know, it isn't that bad..............

How do you wake up tired? I slept very well.

Rita, I’m so glad to here from you. And I’m enjoying hearing about your exotic menu. Jalapeño margaritas sound very interesting and very exotic to me. I think I’m being adventurous if mine is a strawberry (preferably frozen) margarita. You and our new Sparkfriend, Lois share the great love of writing. So much fun following both of your newsy posts.

Donna, yes, living like no one DOES live in your house is quite a challenge. I did it when Cherilyn was 17 months old and I was pg with Chris. I did it again when she was 4 and Chris was 2....and then alone at 66! It was hard each time but certainly with little ones around. We didn't have dogs to deal with at either time, though. It's wonderful that you can now 'move along' and get on with the new adventures!

Pam, yes, Ainsley is chucky!! love those chubby cheeks! My babies were little for a long time. You just never know how they will 'bloom and grow' do you? I love the little dress you made. It's precious!

Rita, it's fabulous to hear from you. I'm so glad you are enjoying the company. The food all sounds yummy. I'm glad you have a good appetite! I didn't have chemo and have lost a lot of hair, too! No rhyme or reason as to why. I'm glad you have the cute scarves. Don't worry about anything if you can. We love you!

My neighbor Jack is still in the outpatient clinic for 'rotor rooter' surgery on a couple of arteries. His wife Linda is the one we had the 80th birthday party for last week. She called at 10:20 and was worried because he was supposed to be done in 2 hours. Please tuck in a prayer for successful surgery, if you don't mind. I went down and let their dog out. Nikki was sort of anxious, I think!

Donna I am so excited for you that your house is sold! As much work as you put into it I had no doubt it would happen fast. Woo Hoo for you! A new adventure begins and it will be a good one!

I've been doing quite well as long as I stay on time with Tylenol. I've had so many visitors and people coming by I can't believe it! Cousins of Rex's stopped by Sat. night and brought me a big jug of jalapeno margaritas! It is really good! Smooth and not spicy. Last weekend we had our family crawfish boil and yesterday a big pot of gumbo. We are having fun. My CNA comes in a bit for my shower. This is what it must feel like having a personal maid/assistant (ala Downton Abby). haha Something new to me.

I have discovered my hair is really thinning out. I get some handfulls when combing or running fingers through my hair. Must be that touch of chemo that is catching up to me. Friends had sent me cute scarves when they thought I'd be full fledged bald so I put on one that I called my gypsy look with big ear rings! It's kind of fun dressing up!

I am having cravings...artichoke dip, warmed with chips! Another is Hormel tamales in a can. That will be a blog post so watch for it. Hope I can get t written today.

Love and miss you gals! I hope to catch up more later!!

Congratulations Donna on selling your house so fast! emoticon

So what is your "closing" date?

I have nothing exciting planned for today, so I think I will make more cloth napkins and perhaps a few more masks. I need to ponder what clothes to make for Ainsley, because the little outfit I made her and tried on her yesterday only JUST fit! The child is only 10 weeks old, and the 3 month size was barely enough, little chonk. LOL! I'll post a pic of it at the bottom, but she was NOT a happy model. She hates being dressed and undressed and gets quite rowdy about it.

Everyone have a good day!

Pam: I am so excited about my house I didn't respond to you. Since masks will be around for a while I got 5 more cloth masks. A couple of people make them for free but I always pay for them. It costs them for materials. I will give 3 of them to my little couple as they lost / wore out their masks.
Lois: The average time on the market during covid is 50-60 days so to sell my house in 10 days is EXCITING!!! I have been in this house, bought it new, 14 years ago. I don't like the desert and want to move to a green area and near family. I Have 2 daughters and can't afford to move back to the bay area ( San Francisco area) where one DD lives so I am going to Boise where my other DD just moved a year ago. It is very green up there. New experiences. I watch all the same HGTV shows. It is a lot of work to live without even soap on the countertop. After the inspection I can start to live normally again.
Mary: Both girls thought I was joking. I had talked to them both earlier so were surprised to hear I got such a good offer and so soon.

I was packing when I got a call from a girlfriend that said she was at a mutual friend's house having dinner and invited me to join them. That friend lives down the street and around the corner so I walked down there and enjoyed visiting with them. I had told them about the selling of the house when the realtor called so I could share my initial joy with them and they were excited for me.

Good morning, Sparklers!! It's hot and humid in Pearland, too! I guess I will get out and walk again...it messed up my sinus issues when I did it on Friday...or was it Saturday? But I have plenty of Kleenex! Last week I lost 2 pounds. This week I regained one but I even cut back on my wine. Guess I need to 'whine' some more, lol!

Lois, I love that you are sending letters to the grandchildren. Mine are mostly little, with a step-grandson who is 17 and wouldn't care about a letter unless it had money in it! There is longevity in my family: both grandmothers were 98 when they died and my great grandmother on my father's side was mid-90's, as was my own mother! I treasure the hand written notes and letters from all of them. I know your grands will, too. My 2nd sister (there are 5 girls in my family) lives in a Del Webb community in Griffin, GA, not too far from Atlanta. She really loves it. They filmed the 'fluff' movie Poms there a couple of years ago. Is that anywhere near you?

Donna, that's fabulous! It really didn't take long to sell at all. I know all your hard work paid off. We're all so excited for you. Now to pack and find a place in Boise! Are your girls excited for you? Keep us posted.

Sue, how is your office/sewing room/Sue Space now? I know you moved, then moved it back. I need to clean off my craft table. I finished up a few cards yesterday without sentiments. I will send 'thank you for Zooming with us' cards to the widows who frequently attend our twice a week meetings. But I need addresses! I only have email addresses!

Pam, how wonderful that you are making the masks and getting paid so you can buy more material. That's sweet that your friend is 'helping' with the distribution. I know cuddling sweet Ainsley is the best! I have a new great nephew. My sister is so excited but she and her husband can't go visit until the end of August, most likely!

I have nothing to do today. I guess I will take a walk and sweep/mop the kitchen. Tomorrow I get my hair cut. I am losing so much hair and don't know why! I hope my stylist can figure out what's going on. It's been since the first of March since my surgery. Almost 4 months. Anesthetic should be long out of my system!!

Congrats to you Donna on sale of your home. Was it on the market long? DD is in real estate in Charlotte, NC and she says homes get snatched up almost immediately. During this lockdown time I spend a LOT of free time watching HGTV Love it or List it, Flip Flop, HomeTown, Property Brothers, etc and it appears just spending a few extra bucks sprucing up our place before selling makes a big difference. Of course, I notice they always spend $3,000 for staging which makes a HUGE difference, too. Are you moving back to your "home" state and city? Family there? Do you have your new residence picked out already?

Sue...Hot and humid in MD? That's exactly what is going on over Atlanta. I rarely see the sun for any length of time....and, then quick thunderstorms blow in. It is crazy how the weather is acting. Maybe it really does have something to do with these "Sahara Sands" you mention Mary.

And, Pam....my ears perked up when you mentioned masks. I am a novice sewer and several of us in the condo building got our machines out and made a boat load of masks for staff, residents and guests.

One thing I started doing while in this lockdown was to sit and hand write (print) letters to my grands. The oldest are teens and the first time they received the letter in the mail the 16 yr old asked his mom, "Doesn't G'ma know how to type?" He was puzzled about this handwritten letter. And, what on earth do you say to teenagers in a long letter. I have this pet peeve if you send a letter to fill up the blank space on both sides. So, it may take me days or weeks to do but I keep it up till both sides of the paper are filled. Then, I feel it is worthy of a stamp. LOL. So, after asking them about their life I then begin writing a short report about the books I have read. The ones I enjoy are non-fiction. Kinda dorky, I know.....but, surprisingly they now enjoy getting the letters from me. Recently, I decided to write to the two younger ones that live here. Oh, boy now THAT is interesting challenge writing to 7 & 9 year olds. So, again to fill up space I will write a simple joke or ask a question of choices.....would you rather be a ....... In the last letter I copied two poems. One was The Computer Ate My Grandma" and Gav is a computer nut. The other was about what if your nose was not on your face. Pres thought this was funny.

I was thinking the other night about my Grandmother. Only had one (the other died at young age). I was 12 yrs old when she passed and only have brief memories of her. I wish I knew more about her.....her personality, what made her laugh, what her interests were, what she liked and disliked, etc. I guess that is why I like to write to the grands. Hopefully they will save these letters. I also keep a diary for each of them that I have been writing in since they were babies. I used to be involved with Creative Memories so I have a ton of stickers and colored pens. I usually write about something cute or funny they did or said. If you don't document it you do forget it.

My favorite website is Pinterest for inspiration. Another idea I got from there is on each grands birthday I write a short note and put $$ in it and seal it. I plan to do this each year and when they maybe graduate I will give to them. The diaries I'm not sure as to when I will give to them....maybe when a little older.

It's almost 8:30 and I see the emoticon so I think I will go take my first walk for the day. Wishing you all a happy day.

Wow Pam, that’s so nice of your friend to sell your offerings. It sounds like the Mask Market is going to be with us a long time. That’s a nice piece of money to buy more fabric with.
I also get to share time with my grand baby yesterday, he’s 21 and I don’t see him often He’s a little hard to cuddle, but he did give me a hug. We had the pleasure of his company all afternoon and evening, that’s a record, and I so enjoyed seeing what a fine, ambitious, self-sufficient young man he’s become.

Donna, A CONTRACT!!!, That’s Great! It’s all downhill from here. Now it’s “pack um up and move it out!” You’ll be in Boise in no time. Take a deep breath and hang on for the ride!

Happy Sunday gals! emoticon

Yesterday, my friend Lorraine, came over and collected the "masculine" masks I made for her neighbour's daughter. Then she handed me an envelope with $60 in it and said she still had a few masks to sell. Man she doesn't like me making stuff and not getting paid for it. I personally made them to be given away, but she just can't see that. Oh well. I guess it allows me to buy more fabric! LOL!

Donna, the new pictures of the bedroom are all blurry! (at least the ones I looked at). Whoever took the pics didn't pay much attention to the focus.

I have been in Woodstock most of today, cuddling my wee Ainsley. She is just too sweet. I absolutely adore talking to her and making sounds that make her smile and coo. She is not even 3 months yet, but you can see her little brain learning and processing new stuff all the time. I forgot how fascinating it was to watch. She got so close to actually laughing today it was hilarious. Ah well. So lovely to play and chat with and feed, then pass back to mommy and go home. LOL!

Tomorrow construction starts on our street, probably really early. I'm not happy about that, but there isn't much I can do about it. They are only repaving our "circle/crescent" and they say it's going to take THREE MONTHS???? Give me a break! Hopefully COVID delayed everything a bit and they'll do it a lot faster than that. 3 months - how ridiculous.

Anyway, everyone have a good week coming up, and we'll chat tomorrow!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Oh, Sue, celery sticks and water sounds terrible! At least put pimento cheese on the celery! And lemon in the water... there is a layer of dust on everything in my part of Texas now, due to the Sahara sands. The air is hot and thick. My eyes hurt!

Donna, I do hope you rest today. That’s so much physical work. I looked at my bedroom today...even tho some walls aren’t as high as others, I can’t imagine Painting in there or any other room except the 2 bedrooms that have regular ceilings.

I went out with a neighbor and her grandson for pizza last night. I would have preferred to just get it and go to her house. Her husband passed away almost 2 years ago and she wanted to go to his favorite place and get his favor pizza. Her grandson wanted to go, too. I thought mYbe they would want celebrate together but she said no...she wanted me to join them. We wore our masks and there was only one other table in our section. The wait staff wore masks and gloves and the pizza was delicious!

Of course I’m still posting here, I’d hate to miss any thing. That was a big painting job for you Donna. Hope it boosts you sale. Real estate is so fickle, you never can be sure what’s going to be the grabber. I’m sure you are anxious to get to Boise. Are ID realtors sending your possible homes?

Very hot and humid here in MD. I took my walk and am now in for the day. We are in line for sporadic storms all week. Rain would be fine if it would just make it cool and not steamier.

I keep reminding myself , It’s Sunday, a day of rest, like I’ve been working sooo hard. Then I don’t feel so bad about sitting here playing games and reading a book. Every day is the same these days, besides clearing off a vague layer of dust, there’s not much cleaning to do. Trying to keep cooking to a minimum. The last couple weeks I’ve been cooking up a storm out of boredom and for entertainment. Of course, then we’ve both been eating hearty, it definitely shows. Back to celery sticks and water, avoiding the comfort food (at least for today). I love cookbooks and I love to cook, unfortunately for me it equals added pounds. 😩.

Stay cool and comfortable my Dear Sparkling Friends.
