Looking through pictures of the "physical culture movement" of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries you will find multiple pictures of women working out with Indian clubs and light dumbbells. What they are wearing for workout gear is definitely not sports bras and lululeon leggins or yoga pants bu notwithstanding that inconience they were exercising.


It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit

You can not build a six pack using twelve packs


Often when we seek a magic bullet for fitness we end up shooting ourselves in the foot.

That sounds intriguing! I just watched the motivational video here on SP with workout clothes through the last 100 years.....
It showed this Lady wearing the type of skirts my Grandmother wore as a young woman, and lifting weights of those days while doing it

Having been "hitting the bars" since I was 19 I am fully knowledgeable regarding the current approaches so this is a new and somewhat redical departure from the many programmes I have followed and taughtover the years. As a certified trainer I am being forced to rethink and reevaluate how I can best advise people on how to train.

For the last three months I have been following and getting excellent results with a workout programme which is 107 years old. I have been using the programme in the book "5 Pound Dumbbell Exercises" written by Professor Attila published in 1913. More information can be found in my blogs on my Spark page.
