For me the best thing is to eat less sweets, then I crave them less. I can't eat one cookie and put the rest away. I have to just not have cookies in the house and when I want a treat, buy one cookie. Just like I can't have ice cream sitting in the freezer or candy in the cupboard! If I want something, I will buy just what I plan on eating.

I have turned to having fruit as treats: watermelon (which is very sugary!), peaches, berries, apples, all different fruits! This is a great time of year to get fresh fruits! It is easy to get kids to appreciate fruits as snacks or desserts. It is great to have fruits all around, on the counter, in the fridge. Then there are dried fruits, nuts, and cheese, even dried meat, all substitutes for sweet snacks!

there's a calendar challenge for taming your sweet tooth that might help! i find that if we cut down treats then over time we stop wanting/craving them, similar to cooking at home vs eating out. my little one isn't old enough to understand yet, but i do like the approach of emphasizing what fuel different foods provide and what we need to feel our best/grow strong/etc.

Healthy choices and actions have positive impacts, even if the scale doesn't move!

As my son grows, I'm seeing the same addiction to sugar in him, that i also have...it's so hard sharing parenting and hearing how they constantly eat unhealthy over there. Any tips on how to keep my sugar sweet tooth on track?
