fresh rolls are the best summer handheld food imo! load them up with whatever fruit/veg/protein combo you like and enjoy! you can either lightly dress the filling (make sure you use a barrier like a leaf of lettuce to prevent the rice paper from getting soggy) or you can add a dip on the side. so good :)

Healthy choices and actions have positive impacts, even if the scale doesn't move!

Summer is a fabulous time for deviled eggs (I use savory ingredients like hot-sauce and Worcestershire sauce when I mash up the hard-boiled egg yolks) -- yummy!

We also eat a lot of cut-up fruit (melon, berries, citrus sections) in the summer -- no spoon/fork required if you make the chunks fairly large -- slices of watermellon!

Breakfast bars (oatmeal, date & pumpkin) that are hearty & keep well in the fridg.

Lettuce wraps -- just sandwich fillings like ham salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, but without the bread.

Some of our favorite things!

A few choices when I'm looking for one-handed are:

- breakfast "strata" baked in individual muffin cups (blend of old bread, veggies, and eggs); for example: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?
recipe=3492217

- breakfast "cake" (or baked custard), which can also be baked in to individual muffin cups (3 per serving); for example: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?
recipe=3532597
or recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?
recipe=3464991

- muffins that are high fibre, low sugar, and with some protein (for example: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?
recipe=3508486
)

- cheese slices, pickled or raw veggies, and meat chunks (with a toothpick as a utensil if you want)

- soups or stews, pureed to be easy to sip at, and kept in a well insulated thermos

Wraps / sandwiches of any kind are always good --- and I have found that I really enjoy the unusual mix of a twist on a PBJ: use favourite nut butter, thinly sliced meat of choice, add homemade fruit butter (apple, pumpkin, combination) or some stewed fruit (almond butter with sliced chicken or pork topped with some stewed prunes in a sandwich on 100% rye is surprising good - and holds together wonderfully in one hand).

paradox
): "...there are no essential foods—only essential nutrients. And humans can get those nutrients from diverse and eye-opening sources. "

Tostadas, hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza, empanadas, tacos, burritos, arepas, calzones, egg rolls, hard boiled eggs, potstickers, fried chicken ....

Many of these are regional variations of the same concept, basically containers with filling.

That’s what comes to my mind. But you want recipes too for handheld food too, right?

I am in search of recipes that don't require utensils to eat. What are your favorite one-handed recipes?
