Thats great. Sounds like we are right at the same place. I turned 42 on July 10th. Another reason to push to get into shape. I just can't identify with the fat old lady staring at me out of the mirror. I am way too young to feel this worn out and unhealthy all the time. I saw a video the other day of a lady who is in her 70s that can dead lift 215 pounds and is in great shape. I want to the like that. I don't want to end up like my grandmother who has scoliosis from osteoporosis (which gave her a hump) because all she did since age 60 was drink beer and watch Matlock reruns. At the opposite end of the scale my husband's grandma, who is a year younger than mine, still rides a bicycle all over town and to surrounding towns and is very active. Amazing to me. I want to be like her when I grow up! I have every confidence we can do this. Maybe with baby steps at first, but it won't take long to get in the groove.

I am in a similar place. Just turned 42, three kids and recently weighed myself after a bit of a hiatus and saw 210 starring back at me (my highest weight to date). Depressing is not even a big enough word to describe how I felt. I am joining a gym this week for the first time in years (I've done outside trail workouts instead...walking, running, biking etc.). I know how it feels when you start out exercising too. The exhaustion is enough to derail you for sure. Great job sticking to it. Take it one day at a time. We can do this!

Hi all. I am 42/f mother of 5. My youngest are twins who will be 3yo this weekend. I was on bedrest during my pregnancy and gained 80 lbs and lost a lot of fitness. After they arrived my whole life has revolved around them and I have made no time for myself. I have struggled to lose (and keep off) my pregnancy weight until I have actually gained almost all of my pregnancy weight back and I have no babies in me. I got on the scale and I was 102.9 kilos. So in my head I was thinking thats not too bad like 200 lbs right? WRONG! 227 pounds. I nearly fainted. Where did all of this weight come from? No wonder I feel terrible all the time. I struggle with lifelong depression and anxiety and I have been having all these little niggling health issues creeping up on me until I have just had it. Enough is enough already.

So I joined a gym June 20th. I wanted to jump in and do a Body for Life 12 week challenge (did one 16 years ago and it seemed a good place to start). I did the first 3 days of the challenge and was on my face. So worn out I can't even move. Come home from the gym and sleep the rest of the day. Well my vitamin D level is at 26. (It should be a minimum of 50) so I have been swimming as much as I can, usually 5-6 days a week for an hour a day and doing vitamin therapy to get my energy back. So yesterday I started my challenge over. I did my weight and all of my measurements anew. Well in the 3 weeks and a bit I had been swimming I lost 10 pounds and 61/2 inches (16 cm) from my waist. All of my weight goes right to my gut. I was so thrilled. Now I feel really encouraged to keep on.

Yesterday was day one of my fitness challenge and I made it through my workout. I was still tired and today I am really sore but I am determined I will make it this time- a day at a time. I can't wait to see the results after a month of really pushing myself. I already feel so much better. My mood is great and my energy is up. Sorry for the wall of text. Thanks to you who read this far. Look forward to getting to know you.
